I've got some built kits for which I have RockSim files, but they don't seem to easily convert over to Open Rocket files. Does anyone have Open Rocket files for the following that they'd be willing to share?

3" Wildman Darkstar 2-stage
2.25" Wildman Darkstar
8" Rocketry Warehouse Formula 200
4" Madcow Honest John
4" Madcow Nike Smoke with Molded Fins

Thank you! S

Okay here is the Wildman Extreme ork file.

Will you do me a favor as I'm running into one of the issues that I thought was part of the RockSim to OpenRocket "conversion" problem? Using the file you posted above, will you run a simulation using a CTI L-1395 BS motor and tell me what sort of altitude the simulation is showing?

I'm getting an altitude of 2911', while a CTI K-570 WT sims to almost 5500'. There's no way that the altitude for an L-1395 motor is that much less than a K-570.

Thank you!

You probably need to change the recovery from Ejection Charge to Apogee and Altitude. The motor is a 0 second delay. With an Apogee drogue parachute the motor sims to 13,765

Is that what I missed? Damn, I'm getting dumb in my older age! Thank you! I guess since I take an old OR file to create a new build, just making the needed changes along the way, I don't think about setting the RECOVERY settings... Doh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll see if that's what's going on with the other files.

Yeah, it DEFINITELY changes the altitude simulations! I'll be making changes to get MUCH closer to correct CG and total weight, but I still can't wrap my head around a K-570 getting this rocket to nearly 7000'! It must not be as heavy as I think it is...

Here's my .ork for a 54mm Darkstar

That's strange. I've never had a problem opening RockSim files in OpenRocket. There are sometimes errors for things RockSim supports but OpenRocket doesn't.

One thing Open rocket does not support is fins attached to boat tails. So rockets like V2s, the PML Little Lunar Express, and similar designs won’t open correctly in OR.

But you can fake them by attaching the fins to appropriately sized "Phantom Body Tubes".
