Hoping to fly my 2.6" Madcow Screech on a Loki 54/2800 L motor... And my 5.38" Dia Minie Magg on a L1390 or L850 :)

Then there is my supporting with the Kaboom Krewe in Marvin the Martian's mission to return home!

Should be a good time.

Wayne,
"This is going to be big"
Just has to be the understatement of the year,, no,, decade...
We are so psyched for this launch I can't even describe it..
We've been super busy getting everything ready for this one,,
I'm sure everyone has been..
This is one of those events that are going to make a few HUNDRED people memories that last a lifetime...

Ya know,,
That's what this event should be called..
"The event of the decade"

Teddy

I called the Cobblestone in Harper to cancel my reservation just now and they told me they didnt have a record of my reservation. So if any of you made reservations last year and have not called to confim, you REALLY should call now. Im still going, I canceled because I have alternate (cheaper) accommodations.

After hanging around and chatting this weekend in the rocket pasture, I am more convinced than ever this is going to be a week to remember. I hate to abuse heavy words, but epic comes to mind when I think about what is being planned for the banquet around Anthony. If you are on the fence, get off and go pre-register now before it closes on Aug. 4th.

This will be my first LDRS launch. I will be driving from New Mexico. Having not been to the Rocket Pasture before, where is parking for flyers, and where is parking for visitors? I plan to fly, but given the timing, may become an observer. Regardless, would like to have my supplies nearby and a 10x10 canopy for shade. I have attached an aerial view of the pasture for reference. Any guidance before the day of arrival would be super helpful. Thanks.

Barry, depending on whether you are a registered flyer or not will determine where you will park. If you are just a spectator, you will be parking in the pasture land north of 80th street (the road that runs east-west near the top of the picture you provided). There will not be a place for you to put up a 10x10 canopy on the Rocket Pasture which is the pasture land south of 80th street.
If you register to fly at LDRS, you will be given a parking pass allowing you access to the Rocket Pasture. There is no reserved parking outside of 25 slots which were all spoken for back in February. Those spots required a significant dedication of time helping out rinsing the range. With that all said, as you arrive, there will be volunteers out to direct you to available parking. Each parking spot will be large enough for a canopy as well as parking for a vehicle. There is no way now to say exactly what will be available when you show up.

Barry I was there for the last LDRS in the RocketPasture and I can say that the Kloudbusters make it super simple to figure out where to go. If you're ever not sure just ask - they're all super cool people. You'll have a great time.

For me, I plan on doing more spectating than flying and this is the event for that. Here's what I recommend for spectating: An easy to carry and comfy fold-up chair, sunblock, something to read for the dead times between volleys and an umbrella for some portable shade. Oh, and definitely bring a very full wallet. IMHO it's best to stay as mobile as possible so you can wander as much as your heart desires.

What the heck... Dave, I was looking forward to seeing some of your more interesting motor creations... Oh well, I'll just have to pick your brain and see what sticks...

Dave, I’m pretty sure you won’t be needing that reading material for LDRS 38. All indications point to somewhere between 15% to 25% more registered flyers than were at LDRS 30! We are working exceedingly hard to make sure there is adequate parking for all registered flyers on the Rocket Pasture. Some folks who are used to grabbing a large area to socialize in at AirFest’s will be asked to consolidate space. We won’t be allowing one guy to “claim” multiple camping spots for their buddies that will show up later. This practice is unfair to folks who are on the field looking for a place to set up camp. There will be plenty of Kloudbuster volunteers on site from Monday before the launch until after everyone has gone home.
Please folks, don’t give these guys a hard time just because you did the same thing last year at AirFest. This will be the largest launch ever put on at the Rocket Pasture and every needs to understand that and make room for their fellow flyers.

Speaking of camping are the tent and rv spots separated?

I checked back in April and posted the following message on the LDRS 38 fb page:

"I checked my reservation at the Cobblestone Anthony. The front desk clerk (Misty) informed me that their system permitted reservations to be made despite no rooms being available. This only affected online reservations, and resulted in some overbooking. Reservations made via phone are okay. Anyone making online reservations should double check."

How did you make your original reservation?

All RV’s will be parked along the west edge of the rocket pasture. As there are no reserved spots, if you are going to camp and do not want to be near an RV, don’t pick one on the west side of the field.

That sounds like a seriously cool flight Mike.
I flew the Loki L 1040 R in my rocket "Europa Express"..
It was really heavy with 2 small outboard "I"'s, if I remember correctly it was about 17 lbs on the pad..
That load took the weight lie it didn't know it was there,, what a ride,..
You're going to love that load, no doubt..
It was after that flight I always make certain I have plenty of them in stock..

It'll be nice to see you again Mike..

Teddy I might have to start using chainsaws to make your vehicles fit in your newly authorized downsized space. Or maybe we can just sit your truck and trailer on Wildman’s trailer which is now sitting on top of his bus. Well at least it will be breezier for you this way.

For everyone else reading this, we are going to fit everyone in but extra unused space will not be generally the norm this year.

On the up side it will be fun and really quite social this year.

Bob, does that mean spectators will be limited to walking within that parking area north of 80th, or will they park there and then be allowed to walk into the flyer area of the Pasture?

They can bring chairs and walk down to the flight line or anywhere else on the spectator side of the flight line.

I just added a chain saw to my list, I'm better with it than that post hole digger we used last year. I really liked how we parked perpendicular to the fence line too. Hopefully, there will be more than a couple of us doing that. We plan to show up Tuesday to help in any way we can, but I know that Kloudbusters will have everything well in hand.

Hey Bob, 276 fliers to date...

Motor creations? lol...the next motor I make will be the first. I think you might have me confused with someone else...but feel free to pick away! There isn't much left

Just know reading these post and coming up on a decision time for making my first trip to Argonia and a LDRS. Should I interpret the banter back in forth in that there might NOT be room for flyers to park at site?

There will be room for everyone.

It is our intent for only registered flyers to occupy space in the main pasture area. A placard for parking will be issued to registered flyers.

We just crossed 900,000' of high altitude approvals for LDRS! If you haven't submitted your high altitude request, we have one week until applications will no longer be accepted or processed. If you have never been to an LDRS this just might be the one you should consider attending!

thx, Understand. Surely you can fit us in out rockets just aren't that big ;)

Pre-registration for LDRS 38 ends on August 4th. Check out the video to get a taste of what a large launch at the pasture looks like!!

We are considering renting a small travel trailer given hotel availability and convenience of staying on site. With space being an issue is it possible we could show up and have no place to park it?

Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? No. It really depends on when you plan on showing up? If the answer is Saturday morning, there really could be slim pickings on trailer spaces.
There is a much better option than renting a trailer that no one is talking about. Wichita, KS! You should be looking at hotels near the Wichita Eisenhower Airport. They are plentiful and there are tons of restaurant choices within a mile of any of these hotels. By staying on the south west side of Wichita (that's where the airport is) you are an easy 40-45 minute drive to the Rocket Pasture. I don't know the exact number but there must be 10-12 hotels just north of the airport on or near Kellogg Drive. The restaurants are scattered between the hotels and there is a Walmart there as well.
Checking Yelp, Anthony, KS has 5 restaurants with two of them being McDonalds and Pizza Hut. Harper has the same number.
Anthony is a 18 minute drive to the rocket pasture. Harper is about 25 minutes. Wichita isn't that much further.

Thanks, yeah, that's why I was concerned, because of my son's school earliest we can get there is late Friday so it would be nice to be able to reserve a spot. Can't chance renting and then getting there only to end up "commuting". There is a KOA in Wellington, but that of course defeats the purpose.

if the pasture is full, can always park across the road

Good to know, I wondered about that, but I don't recall seeing much information about parking in general on the web site, maybe a sentence or two.
