7 months of travel away, no atmosphere to which your blood will boil away in 1 minute if you are exposed to it, no structure to sustain life in, no food, or water readily available , then an even longer time to wait for Earth and Mars to come back close to each other to make another 10-12 month trip back still surviving on your original food, water, and oxygen you started out with. All the time having 20K people die each and every day of starvation during the trip that we collectively ignore as a global society, and how much did the trip to Mars cost...6 Billion for 4 people.

Earth: The Insane Asylum of the Universe-nowhere else could things be more messed up.

Posted on a hobby site, where we take our expendable cash, buy things that nobody benefits, only to make ourselves feel good.

This direction, of course, leads to madness as we rarely make The Optimal Choice. I'm glad we're looking at Mars. I'm glad we're trying to help the world feed itself. I'm glad it's not zero-sum.

Why go there? What does starving on earth have to do with life on Mars? This tangent has limited to do with a very interesting post on the possibility of life on Mars now or in the past.

I am going to warn everyone to avoid political comments. I can see this spirally toward the pit of locked messages.
