Here I go again with old guy foggy memory syndrome.... It seems to me I recall a construction article, probably in American Aircraft Modeler, of the Bachem Ba 349 (Natter) as amodel rocket. Anyone remember it and what mag published it?

Thx, Tom

I remember the article, most likely AAM as they did more rockets than the other magazines of the era.
I believe the design had the wings loosely attached so they come off at launch before it clears the rod, for better stability.

Frank posted that he had one of his rocket glider models for the Natter (probably 2D profile) way back in 2009. I could not get the threads on the links to work.

Here is a TRF thread on the Noris Natter.

And another thread:

Unfortunately, a lot of the links no longer work.

I vividly remember this article, it would have been around 1971 or thereabouts. Doesn't look like it was AAM though, there's a complete list of articles from that era at https://www.airplanesandrockets.com/magazines/vintage-american-aircraft-modeler-list.htm

My recollection, which could be wrong, was that the magazine was a British import.

American Aircraft Modeler Magazine January 1971. Author was Bob Woods. Model used an A8-3 motor and had slip on stub wings that were removed before flight or blew off during launch. Parachute recovery.

Great first post.
The issue is available on eBay.

A four motor A10P canted cluster would be awesome. Plug some C6 0 or E12 0's for larger scales and even more fun. Add in a traditional centerline motor for a five motor cluster to lift all that no good stinking nose weight.
