How long do you spend there? Sounds like a sweet deal, but I'm guessing they don't like overspray. :D

I'll spend the day (8--12 hours) in there, once a week a couple times a month. I paint outside when its nice, bring it in to cure. I shot clear in there once. Once. The floors are glossy paint and from down the hall you could see the overspray. Luckily, it flashed before it stuck so it swept up just fine.

I am new to the form I have 17 lpr 1 built mpr 2 unbuilt mpr. I cant wait till it get warm so I can try my mid power rocket out.

My life became a living hell back in early August when I had to have a triple bypass.....or die. that all went well until I developed PTSD.....yep! PTSD! From there I ended up with an abscess in my left lung, and my brain and ive been on antibiotics via IV ever since. Cant work till an MRI shows that its all gone and I can last longer than 2 hours before having to lay down because im shot. The reason that im sharing this story is that the one thing that has kept me somewhat sane and happy is building some model rocket kits! No matter what happens, Im so thankful to God for my family, friends, and yep....hobbies such as model rocketry! Its hard to believe that ive been a BAR for 10 years! On Feb15th, ill be 61......how fast time goes by....here,s some pics of what ive built and/or finished since ive been sick....it keeps me going......!View attachment 374111 View attachment 374112 View attachment 374113 View attachment 374114

Glad to see that you've still got a Futaba Gold series tranny....mine I bought second hand in 1988 now converted to 2.4 ghz and still going strong that was when they made gear to last eh ?

That would be one of the largest collections I've heard of. Fleet pictures please!!!! :)

Also, honest question: what do you plan to do with 850 unbuilt kits?

Good question, given my age! In fact a couple of them are from you! I'll put up some pics.
Trying to clean out some clutter now that the weather is better. All bagged kits are in 65-110qt storage containers. Quite a few boxed kits as well. It's climate controlled in there.

Nice job on the Nike

Thanks Andy. That's great coming from you. :D I had some great inspiration. ;)

I dont think I've had a rocket that gave me as much trouble.

First, I had the body tube on the floor, standing on end...and the garage leaked...and the BT just happened to be standing in the only low spot.

It dried out fine (not deep water, but enough...)

Then, second, I sprayed the tube with the "Universal Bonding Primer" and it blistered, so I tried filling the tube spirals with some cheap sh!t Dollar Tree filler. Well, that stuff sands like partially dried boogers. It didn't really "sand", it just rolled into hundreds of balls and clogged the sand paper. I pitched that tube and ordered a new one from Estes.

From here out, things went okay...for a while.

The nosecone sanded and painted beautifully. Then I dropped it. At least I dropped it on carpet (thin, no padding carpet, but not the concrete floor.)

The new BT took real filler great, primed great, painted great...then I realized I was using flat white instead of gloss. It took the clear just fine. My checkerboard was about 1/16" short, so I moved that gap into the fin line.

No major problems with the fins, just one overly curious gnat.

Installing the MMT went fine.

The fins went on like butter...a week later when I looked at them, they are not perpendicular, like a +, they are more of a sideways X, not perpendicular, but actually a symmetrical capital X, laying on its side like Skywalker's X-wing. You'd never know it unless you looked at it on end.

Once it was finished and pics taken, I put it on the "gun rack" with the Prowler and High Flyer XL, and yep, the magnetic hooks on the wall were not up to the task and they all three came down. There are now four hooks holding the rack to the wall.

I think that covers it. I'm kinda scared to fly it now with all its been through.

New to the forum and have about 2 dozen but that's never gonna be enough. Doing scratch builds of old Estes stuff now and just finished a Manta Bomber. Was in a rocket club in middle school, was really fun, plus living on the space coast how could ya not be a rocket enthusiast?

All the more reason to cut it loose- its earned it- lol.
I still gotta get a first flight on my replacement Smoke, the one you patterned off of had a Cato., I fixed it , but the new one needs some love. Thinking 29mm CTI H90 now that I have my L-1.

Have about 80 total between me and my son. 2 currently on the build table My Saturn V and his Avelear, several in various stages of needing finishing, a repair pile of about 5, a few retires, 30ish flyable and about 40 in the storage boxes.

Its me again....the guy that asked the question!!! what great responses!! I just wanted all of ya's to know that after reading all the responses, I now officially went from 60 rockets to 107 and am now a member of the 100+ model rocket club LOL!! It was so much fun , and im still BUILDING!!!!332.JPG 333.JPG 333.JPG 331.JPG

Bought 22 small LPR's from a guy today off of CL so now I have 25 total. Really only want 5 more HP to be finished for life.

Way more than I should.

I thought I was a 'freak' with all the rockets I have. Some of the replies in this thread make me feel a little better :D
