I saw a thread somewhere about putting a small plastic tag in the rocket with contact info "If this rocket is found, please contact...… "

I tried looking on amazon but all the tags were too big for say a BT20 rocket ala Hi Flyer.

Any Ideas?

Thanks.

I've seen multiple sizes, styles, and placements..

Name & NAR/TRA/CAR number. Sometimes also a phone number.. And sometimes a little longer with: "If found ... reward..." Placed at the base of the BT, between the fins, on a fin, on the NC shoulder, in line with the lugs or buttons, and/or taped to the shock cord. Also written in, just inside the BT or on the lower/bottom CR..

Use a fine sharpie or a paint-pen, and a shot of clear coat over it..

Aeropack will engrave the retainer ring with your NAR / TRA / CAR number for a small fee..

get some decal paper, and make your own "ID" water-slide decals..

I make waterslide decals on my home printer, they have my name, cellphone, and NAR# on them they are only about 3/8" x 3/4" or so, and probably a hundred to a page.

I use my Brothers label maker and place label between the fins. Each label has my name, NAR # and phone #. The only problem that I have is the Rocket Gods do not return my rockets or call me and ask if I want them back?

Question: what good is putting your NAR number on the tag? Most people finding a lost rocket won't know what that is. Even those who do probably can't use it to identify or contact you, can they? Does NAR have some sort of member lookup? Seems like that would violate any reasonable privacy policy.

NAR has a look-up on website. You punch in NAR number and all it does is spit out a name so you have a valid point, especially if name is already on rocket.

Name and phone number on a brother label maker. Anything large enough gets one of those stainless steel engraved dog tags from the machine near Wal Mart's front door.

Actually it can work better than you think. Not rockets but a similar thing occurred with a racing pigeon, it was near dark and a racing pigeon hit the powerline feeding our house killing it, when I went to remove the bird from the yard I saw the band on its leg and the only thing on it was a organization name and a multi-digit number (cant remember thr org or how many numbers), so I contacted the organization and told whoever I talked to the number on the band, and my phone number, within an hour a gentleman called me about the bird, I gave him directions and about 30 minutes later arrived to pickup the bird. Hence the reason I put my name, NAR #xxxxx, and my phone number on my rockets, I like to get them back or the pieces of them at least.

I raised racing pigeons for 14 years and I placed aluminium bands of their legs with my name and phone number. I had one racer show up in my coop and I able to contact the gentlemen in Canada. The owner said let it rest and then release it. He was very grateful and pleased that this young bird had covered so many miles in such short time. I guess this why I label all my rockets and I would call any rocket owner if I found there rocket.

Cheers for you; you're an uncommonly good person. I don't thing there are many people who would Google "NAR", call the number, and call the next number (yours) to get it back to you. If you put your own number on the rocket you'll be way more likely to get a call. And part of my point was that if you do have your own number on it then the NAR number doesn't seem to add any further value.

Of course, there's also no harm in it.
