If anybody is looking for the correct ping pong balls I found some on amazon and ordered them before realizing it was like 80 balls. I don't play table tennis so if anybody wants just like 5-10 ping pong balls I'd happily mail them a few crushed in a padded envelope for price of shipping. That is of course till I run out. The tiny mason jars at hobby lobby work great for storing the acetone slurry until you use it.

I prefer pill bottles for storing igniter dips, they are made of HDPE and are not affected by acetone, and the airtight seals keep the stuff from drying out. Mason jars seals deteriorate in the acetone fumes.

So I know this thread is a few years old, but it was the first one that turned up in the Search window. Does anyone know if an ematch dipped in acetone/smokeless powder slurry will light an Aerotech motor? Specifically, a G80NBT... thanks!

I ran a few tests, the smokeless powder I use for deployments (Triple Seven) isn't soluble in acetone. I ended up ordering some ProCast from Apogee... I was surprised how fast I got it, considering what's in it. Apparently when it's just the individual chems it's not regulated as tightly as it is when they're mixed together.

Yup, that's exactly why it's sold that way. There's some stuff shipped that way that couldn't be sent at all if it were pre-mixed.

It might, Probably not. First, it won't fit in the nozzle. Secondly, E-matches burn with a POP, most likely too short of duration to light the propellant even when "enhanced". They work for CTI motors because the motor contains a Pyrodex pellet. At least, that's what I've experienced. YMMV ;) For igniters, I use Magnalite.

I wasn't aware that Triple Seven worked for deployment. I've always used ffffg black powder.
