I accidentally purchased 2 packs of C6-0 motors. Problem is I don't have a rocket to use them with. Here are my options:

1. Light them up for fun (Not sure this is worth $25)
2. Sell them (Not sure anyone I know can use them, and not worth the hazmat shipping fee alone)
3. Get a new kit that requires this kind of motor.
4. (other ideas?)

Instead of me combing the industry for rockets that can use these, maybe you have some in mind? I usually prefer scale kits, but maybe something with side booster would be fun. Don't have that yet.

Use them in a two or three stager.
Use them in a cluster in combo with engine(s) that have an ejection charge.
Use them in oddrocs or boost gliders that don't need an ejection charge.
Put them in a Mosquito or Streak and kiss that sucker goodbye.

The Estes Quinstar is a fun little oddroc build that will fly C6-0 motors.

I should have known that would be your favorite.
I was wondering, who would be the greater adversary: Bat Mite or Mr. Mxyzptlk?
Bat-Mite is good at heart, but a little confused, whereas Mxy can be downright evil!

- Staging?
Yes, just need to shop for an interesting kit.

- Cluster?
Nope. That was the idea but found out they might eject the chute at high speed.

- Oddrock?
Yup. Need to shop around.

- Boost glider?
Hmm... RC radio... Landing practice... Destroying a few kits in the process... TBD.

- Mosquito or streak?
Funny, the reviews say the same: I'll lose it.

I'll add "car". They actually had us build a car in high school, and said motors were up to us. I never had the right kind of motor before... Now where's that car I built years ago.

4. Take them to launches to use as trade goods

There will be somebody with a CC Express (or a Farside or an Apogee II they are ready to lose).

that or go to JimZ rocket plans. Lots of two stages you can clone/scratch

- Cluster?
Nope. That was the idea but found out they might eject the chute at high speed.

Plug the MOTOR mount for the zero delay (either eject it or put a side vent in, unless you have a high fire hazard area I'd just eject it). Use the non-zero delay engine to deploy chute.

art applewhite saucers. Plans are free on the site. Dirt cheap to build.

Probably.

Those are great leads!

As for venting, plugging or ejecting, the thing is I've already done a custom motor mount for that particular Saturn V they were destined for, and had to add 150 grams in the 3rd stage for balance. At this point, I'd rather avoid further mods if I can (and I think I found a way) and leave it as it is. It's all ready for launch, so these C6-0 have become superfluous.

Boost gliders only, without R/C control.

Nope, you need a delay for boost gliders.

Depends on the glider. Recommended engine for the M2F2 Space Camel I just built is a C6-0. The blowby pressure in the confined space ahead of the pop pod is sufficient to eject it.

Scratch build a spool. They're fun and don't require recovery. A 4"-6" diameter piece of foam core, 6" of 18mm tube, a launch lug, maybe a couple of braces, and some wood glue and you're off to the races with the lowest flight ever seen on a C6. :)

Choose your poison.
Clockwise, from top center:
Estes Quinstar (NeilW and Second Row's favorite), Estes Hex-3, Art Applewhite Delta Saucer, Quest Planet Probe, Centuri X-24 Bug clone (GlenP's favorite). Also, although it's not listed as a recommended motor, the Semroc Point and Odd'l Up! Cup could probably be flown with the C6-0 since the space ahead in the motor tube is confined. As long as the motor is not tightly fitted into the tube it should kick out.
The Quinstar on a composite D always creates a buzz among the crowd. Laters.

I stand corrected!

That's a great little group photo.

- Quest Planet Probe - It's crying to be an Apollo CM isn't it?
- Centuri X-24 is the best looking one here IMO.
- Quinstar's interesting. Maybe, maybe.
- Hex-3? I don't get it. Unless I'm missing something, It's my least favorite.
- Art Applewhite's website has monocopters. Adding that to the list.

- Semroc Point - Sort of like the Planet Probe I think.
- Semroc Odd'l Cup. Boy do I have the paint scheme idea for this one.

- A spool? I'm finding this as a reference. It seems like it's got potential, but I'm not sure for what. I want to dress it with an extension cord, but that doesn't make any sense. Let me think about this one.

Ok I have too many choices now.

Flying Saucers. Centuri UFO clone or scratch built knockoff.

This was my last spool. It is fun, but probably shouldn't be flown on a cluster of 7. A 3-cluster was a bit hairy, though that may have been due to wind. It definitely wants a -0 motor though because a -4 ejects after hitting the ground. https://www.rocketryforum.com/threads/drag-queen-a-slightly-off-kilter-spool.152881/

My most frequent uses for C6-0's are for Flying Saucer types, and R/C Rocket Gliders. And sometimes, staged.....with an R/C Rocket Glider.

This was a short flight on staged C6's, doing a lot of maneuvering and trying to land close to an orange tape across the ground. Funky view of the inverted V-tail's control surfaces doing their thing (thank goodness for electronic mixing!).

Tape it to the end of a regular BP motor and use it as a first stage. Haven’t done it myself but a friend of mine has done 3 or 4 taped end to end. As the next engine lights the first falls away. Best in light and long rockets.

As shown in one of the posts above, Art Applewhite has some fun designs for “saucer” style rockets - there are free downloadable .PDF files of several. I’ve tried all the free designs (except the bigger one made from an Express Mail box), great flyers on -0 motors!

I like that one, but some of these older kits are hard to find. Not sure about scratch building. I still find instructions quite instructive.
This was my last spool...

I see how it can be interesting, but I doubt my main "audience" would.

I like RC gliders but don't think I'll get into it this year.
Non-RC gliders ? I'm going to lose that.
I have an interesting idea for how to paint a UFO, but need to find one I can easily modify a certain way.

I really like that! What a simple idea.

Yeah, neat designs. The free ones aren't for 18mm motors, but I did download a 13 mm Qbit.
