Still agonizing over which rocket I'm going to build as my first two stage to launch. An upscale Nike x or my own design that looks like a navy rim with a booster missile.

While researching parts for them I stumbled upon most of the parts to build an oop Estes ventris on the Estes website so I ordered them today. One slotted 2" pro tube, one plain 2" pro tube, the plastic transition, a 2.5" pro tube, the 2.5" plastic nose cone and just for kicks a 2" plastic nose cone. They have the 29mm motor mount two but I have one and the retainer laying around. All I am really missing is the centering rings so I'll have make some up.

I 3D printed centering rings for a Ventris derived Tomahawk. Haven’t put them to the test, yet.

Estes Partizon Rocket at NSL2019. Flying on an Aerotech H135 to 2400 feet. Delay drilled to 10 seconds. Nice panoramic view of the Lucerne Dry Lake Bed, the crowd gathered for the NSL 2019. Thanks to NAR and ROC.

That must be the Ute Tomahawk.

I contacted Estes about the centering rings and they are not available separately but John Boren did send me the measurements. I did call Estes today because I realized that somehow I missed adding the 2" tube to my order. I also swung by Hobby Lobby to pick up a Nike X but they were out. They did have a Nike Smoke though. I should have bought it but I was sidetracked by them not having the Nike X. I am going to Albuquerque for dog shows this weekend and I'll try to stop by a Hobby Lobby up there.

Moved my rockets to Jonesboro and forgot my Tripoli binder in another state. FML

Looks like I've got a working Eggfinder Mini system! I plugged the reported GPS data from the display into Google Earth and it showed me my house! Who'da thunk it?
I need to take a breath and build the LCD-GPS module add-on, finish carving up the case, shock protect the Mini, etc. But I'm pretty psyched about the progress so far.

tOD, I just finished building Eggtimers LCD Handheld Receiver and their TRS GPS Tracker/Flight Computer. They are talking to each other but other than that I haven't had time to test/play with them. :)
Greg, are you building the GPS add on for your receiver? I'm a little nervous about mounting the GPS module on this device. The part about flowing the solder in the channels seems a little daunting.

Just follow the instructions. You wont have any problems if you have gotten this far. Be sure to epoxy it down on the sides when you are done.

I am in Albuquerque this weekend and since my local hobby lobby did not have a Nike-x in stock I decided to look here. The first store I went to did not have the Nike-x but they did have a Nike smoke like the store at home. I went to a second hobby lobby and they did have the Nike-x so now I have one that I will use to verify the measurements for my bt60 upscale that will be a two stage rocket.

tOD, the instructions for the cut-out for the LCD have the wrong measurements. I can draw up the correct layout this weekend & send it to you. I'm going to send it to Eggfinder too & show them how crappy mine looks following their instructions.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm still working on the GPS module add on for the receiver. I got the pads soldered today and might get to flowing the solder into the channels on the back side on Sunday. After that there are only a few more components to mount. I'd appreciate your revised cutout for the LCD, I've got the case marked but haven't cut out or drilled anything yet.

24mm Sport Rocket with Mini DV Camera at NSL2019. Flying on an Apogee Rockets E6-8 to 2400 feet. Flying a rocket this small this high is like finding a needle in a haystack. Good flight to try at the Lucerne Dry Lake Bed.

Soldered the grounds pads. Looks like the picture in the instructions so I guess it'll be OK. Switched to a larger tip for this operation. Couple of resistors, LED, and some wires left to solder then it will be getting it all in the case

You basically want to totally ignore the templates that come with the thing. You will be better off measuring it up yourself or doing some clay impressions or something. Or buy the blackrrow kit, which has some switches and the holes precut.

tOD, here's the diagram. You should be able to print it out and use it as a templete. :)

Finished going through all the 45 Extreme Rocketry magazines I got from Kevin Trojanowski back in 2012, read everyone cover to cover. Would love to find more HP rocket magazines to read.

Picked up an Estes CC Express for a good price on eBay. Body tub seams are filled and today I filled the fins. Tomorrow I will get the fins glued on then on to painting. I also ordered a US Rockets Christmas Rocket kit.
