Yes! I'm alive. It's been over a year since I've smelt the sweet scent of AP. And I've decided that enough is enough...

A certain long box has been sitting in my shop since November 2017... I realized it's looking extremely lonely. So I decided to open it up.... any guesses what I have here?

Ey! Going to swing by HARA and say hi anytime?

Nike-smoke or other pointy cone thing?
I'll have to see what my plans this fall are. I have an internship at IBM this summer, so I'm in the Raleigh area over the summer.

I'll try and swing by a launch this fall, I promise!

Well hello there B...wondered what ya we're up to !

Pic looks like you are hoarding toilet paper for a rainy day. :p

So building had to be delayed while I clean all the spiderwebs out of my workshop. I'm going all out with the shop vac tonight....

I just took a job at Hytrol in Jonesboro,AR for mechanical engineering. HARA is like a second family to me. Let us know when your flying again. Would like to meet up.

Welcome back and I hope your job search won’t last as long as mine did.

So after going all out with the shopvac cleaning all the spiderwebs out of my workshop (I'm a total arachnaphobe, so that was an experience), I finally have a clean workbench again.

So I started cleaning off the fins....

Good to see you, man! Glad to see wine, women, and song didn't steal you away from us forever.

Be sure to read the build thread under "airstarts-cluster-staging" before starting your build to avoid the many pitfalls that come with this beast!

Hmm one of the madcow kits, Matt? You going to push it hard and fast?

Well, now that I'm no longer a brokeböi (intern at IBM) I can actually afford motors. So after a warmup I could see this getting some fun stuff in the tail.

Good to see you, man! Glad to see wine, women, and song didn't steal you away from us forever.

Wine: not 21 till October.

Women: Hah. As if. Let's just say I haven't had the best of luck.

Song: Friend just got me hooked on NSP. If you haven't heard them, listen to them. They're amazing.

Way ahead of you.

Ninja Sex Party, yes. Also Starbomb.

Regardless, I'm working on drawing up plans for the wiring for the motor retention on the upper stage. I'm also reading through CJ's thread about what he did.

Worked on sanding the fins.

Fins have been beveled!

I also set up a jig to get the correct area of the fin roots sanded.

Next, I taped up the altimeter coupler as to glue on the switch band. Used a bit of epoxy, and rotated the switch band around, evenly spreading the epoxy. Once I slid the band up far enough, the tape was removed, pulling off the excess epoxy.

Now, I glued the e-bay bulkheads together. I took a 0.250" dowel, coated it with mold release wax, and used it to center the bulkplates. Epoxy was applied, and then they were clamped together.

Drilled the holes to attach the altimeter bay on the sustainer to the upper body tube.

Mark the location....

Set on the drill press and use the freshly adjusted laser sights.

Double check that I'm perpendicular to the tube.

Ahh, the sight of freshly drilled FG.

Tapping for a 4-40 screw.

Realized my screws were a bit long. Lets fix that...

The poor man's vice. (Cut the screws with a dremel)

Done.

Hi! Are you new around here? Do we know you?!

Hi, no. I'm new. I can't figure out who this bb person is that everyone keeps talking about..... :neener:

...now that there... IS funny!

I for 1 am impressed with your new skills BB!

Thanks! I took a machine shop class at school and I'm really working on using some of the things I learned.

I'll be ordering some more bulkheads today to get the interstage coupler bay finished.

Trust me, you don't want to know. He's a bit....sketchy. I've met him. Really weird dude, I mean even weird for a rocketry dude.... ;)

Seriously, I should've sent you something to see what you were up to during SLI. Forgot to let you know dates so we could get together for a bit!
