So I am building a BlackFly and I can not for the life of me figure out how get the nose cone avbay into the nose cone like it is supposed to be. I can not cut/paste, move the parts the way I want to get the rocket layered correctly.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using the AV Bay kit from Mac, or building your own from scratch?
Yes, I am using Mac's nosecone kit. All the components are there, I just cant figure out how to get them in the right position, without moving the nosecone way off the body tube.

Will it sim in OpenRocket? It’s 100x easier to build a rocket in that than Rocksim. A lot more control over the parts and it’s easier to get around.

I am not home so I don't have access to the pics I need to send you. I have both the Pinnacle and the Wildman nosecone with the Mac AV Bays in them. In both I use an altimeter and tracker. For the Pinnacle you need to cut the bottom of the nosecone off. However before you cut and glue anything let me show you what I did as the choices you make can limit you, so you have to be careful.

I am almost done at this point. I have the ring glued in. I’m needing a proper rocksim file to measure how much nose weight to add before gluing in the AV bay. Sorry for the confusion. IMG_1989.jpgIMG_1988.jpgIMG_1987.jpgIMG_1986.jpg

Here is a link to my build thread, I go over the Mac AV bay in the Pinnacle nosecone in that one. If you have any more questions, just let me know.

For nose weight, I would also add a horizontal pin, drilled through the nosecone to hold it in that is if you can't get right down in there to rough it up to give the epoxy something to adhere to. I would also recommend simming up a variety of motors, form the biggest to the smallest and make sure you add enough for a decent range. This design is inherently unstable, great flyer if you get it right, but if you fly it on the wrong motor, it will turn into a skywriter!

Attached is a zipped file with both my RS and OR sim files.
