Looking to make an upscale (5.5") Kraken and was wondering if it could be simulated in Open Rocket. The Kraken has swept tube fins. I did find a post describing a way to use 3 fins each in the sim to represent the tube fins but that was before Open Rocket supported tube fins. Is there a way to model tube fins with a swept front and trailing edge?

Nope, no can do.

I'd just try using the average length of the tube (average of long "inner" edge and short "outer" edge) and put in standard tube fins. That oughta get you close I would think.

I have the mini kraken and the full size. Using the 3 straight fins equivalent has always netted me at least a 10% match between my sim and the rocket flight, often as close as 5%.

Technically it can be done somewhat... Using the developer's version of Openrocket. But the flight characteristics won't work.

It would take a lot of time and pods and would look kinda pixelated. So, I wouldn't waste my type trying, because it would be for looks only.

Can you elaborate a bit on this? Not quite getting what your saying. Pods?

Thats what I was thinking too. I guess build it and let her fly. See how close the sim is.

Thanks! Its good to hear about other flyers experiences with this. Gives me a bit more confidence in the work around.

In the forthcoming version of OR (still in alpha state, not getting released any time soon), there are additional capabilities that would let you create a *visual* sim of the Kraken fins, although it would take plenty of effort. However, this would not get you a working *flight* sim, which I presume is what you're after at the moment. "Pods" are the mechanism that lets you do all kind of interesting things with the rocket design, but again they will not help you achieve an accurate flight sim for this rocket.
