I apologize for my “snarky” comment. Mini Midwest Power has been successful in cold driving rains, hot sunny days and everything in between. I took the opportunity to point that out while also pointing out the fact that other launches have rescheduled due to the same weather extremes. Mini Midwest Power is definitely a must do launch and you shouldn’t be deterred by the weather.

QCRS has a great field, a hard working group of volunteers, and with the support from Wildman Hobbies, a good time is always had.

I didn’t mean to speak for the club or use the clubs name with my snarky comment.

John,
Crosstown rivalry will always exist, and we have always had that...it’s human nature and innocent. I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings (I know I didn’t, you are a pretty tough guy)
You have had horrible luck this year with your launch schedule & I hope you will join us and have a good time.

A wise (Wild) man reminded me that life is to short for this kinda stuff. So I officially apologize and hope you will decide to join us this weekend.

Well, I for one was totally NOT offended. Truth be told I had a good chuckle after reading you post. I know that QCRS is a great bunch of guys and gals. So no worries from this side.

Tomorrow...
Prepped a rocket.

Now I just need the weather to clear up.

Meanwhile at the field...

Both Midwest Power launches are on my bucket list for sure. I hear that rocket launching aside, it is a great time. I hope everyone has a great time and am looking forward to pictures/videos from the launch!

Sadly I didn't have enough time to get things ready and anything I wanted to fly would be above the clouds, so I didn't prep anything. Now it looks like tomorrow might be able to support some high flights. -sigh-

I'm making the trek out though to pick up my (or some of my) Black Friday shopping bonanza and spectate for a few then head back home.

We here at QCRS do NOT speak of the “W” word. Other “Blasts” may cancel their launches, but we fly!! Snow, wind or rain! Either way, we have a great time.

Well, not really. I attended MWP a couple years ago in November, and the event was called short because of weather. I did have a great time on the one good day of flying, though. I appreciate that your club keeps things MOVING. No long launch queues!

An out-of-state club I have been following on a list server for over a year has yet to hold a launch. They get all panicky about weather forecasts made on Tuesday and apparently need 100% perfect conditions in order to launch. Like the princess and the pea...

Two other HPR clubs I used to belong to stopped holding launches in the winter and one bungled the landowner relations for an awesome field. These were 2 hours away, but still much closer than the remaining options (3.5 hours, minimum.)

Time to move, start a new club, or just settle for one or two big events per year (and lodging!)

Anyway, hope you are having a good event......

Two days of great flying weather later... I'm sun burnt and happy.
Thank you, everyone, for coming out and flying with QCRS! We love hosting you, come and see us again.

Love the Midwest said it was going to be horrible turned out to be a pretty decent couple days little muddy, little windy on saturday but all in all a good launch.
Here is my video dump https://photos.app.goo.gl/eH1Z3QoH2oNWfMdg6
didn't record many as I was prepping or flying most of the weekend but did get the corkscrew and the giant bottle other wise its mostly my stuff
Of course another awesome meal and party at Tims ty again for that. Look forward to seeing everyone at Midwest Power

Adrian, is there a reason for the storage container doors being closed while you launched your King Viper this year?

Well, the rain earlier was from the west, so uh, the container was getting wet, yeah, that's it, it was getting wet inside, so we closed the doors and forgot to reopen them later. Yeah, that's it. We just forgot to open them again... :D:D

I headed out Saturday morning, much later than normal, drive through a nice downpour, really began to clear up as I was nearing 26.

I was only able to stay for a few hours Saturday, but had a nice time as always.

Glad to see Adrian's King Viper log a redemption flight. :)

In spite of all the ruckus regarding weather, those who attended Mini MWP had a couple of decent afternoons to fly. I can't fault anyone who had to travel any distance for staying home. The forecast was ominous... and still is! Thanks to Tim and Jackie for a fantastic smoked steak dinner Saturday night and to the QCRS team for another fun, thought weather challenged, rocket weekend.

Sorry that Susan and I missed it. MWP is on our calendar !!!

I would so be down for another launch if its on a Sunday, I never got to launch my Scorpion would love another chance to fly it before LDRS

Patty and I just got home today from Mini. Thanks so much to all the QCRS BOD and members for all the time and effort that goes into putting on another awesome launch weekend! A special Thank you goes out to Jackie and Tim for letting us camp out and hosting a great cookout for all.

Great to see you both!! Thanks again for making the trip and for the presents!! Can't wait to build the Black Fly.

It looks like the crops are a little behind. Last year at this time you could see the corn rows. Any chance of a June launch?
A June launch is being discussed, hopefully we can make something work. We'll update everyone when a final decision is made.
