We have tried to assemble the information you need and want, but please ask any questions you may have.

Since we launch in California, we follow the Office of the State Fire Marshall (OSFM) restrictions. This means only commercial motors listed by the OSFM may be flown at NSL-2019. Being a certified motor is not enough.
OSFM restricts motors to 10,240 NS (M) for a single motor, and a total of 20,480 NS for multiple motors on the same rocket. Our vendors are made aware of the restrictions, and only OSFM listed motors will be available for purchase on site. If you bring your own motors, please ensure the motor or packaging has the California OSFM seal.

The launch site and surrounding area have been placed under Stage II fire restrictions, probably throughout the Summer. For Stage II restrictions no open fires are allowed. Fires must be in containers elevated off the lakebed and should be fully screened. A permit is required for any fire.
A California Campfire Permit is required, even for camp stoves, lanterns, and similar devices with a shut-off valve. The permit is free, but you must ensure it is issued and you have a hard copy in hand before lighting any such device.
Smoking is limited to an area where there is no vegetation within five feet, so basically the entire Lucerne Dry Lake.

For NSL 2019 we will have approximately 66 to 70 launch pads available. We will have a variety of rod diameters starting at 1/8", and rails will include mini, 1010 (1/4"), and 1515 (5/16"). All will be controlled through a central LCO console.

If you need something out of the ordinary, please plan to bring it or contact us to see if we can help.

The FAA waiver for NSL 2019 will be a ceiling of 14,500'AGL, with the possibility of call-in waivers for flights to 19,000'AGL. If your rocket sims at or above 14,500'AGL you need a high altitude waiver, fill out a RED flight card, and inform the Pad Manager before being assigned a launch pad.

Our flight cards for normal flights are yellow, and we use the red flight cards for certification flights, flights above 14,500'AGL, and "heads-up" flights (clusters, high power multi-stage, etc.). If your flight is out of the ordinary, please discuss with the RSO/FSR during inspection whether it should be a "heads-up" flight.

Thanks to Roc for hosting a great NSL launch. They did an excellent job and I greatly enjoyed attending the event. Many thanks for having an outstanding night launch which is one of my favorite events.

Congrats to ROC and NAR for a super job getting many, many rockets launched safely and predictably (for the most part). Thanks to all the volunteers for making it happen. There were times on Saturday when I could not feel ANY wind - really nice flying conditions. The commitment and flexibility of the RSOs was really outstanding in giving people lots of opportunities to fly their models. Turnout seemed good. I hope it was considered a successful event by the organizers.
