I will be flying to California for NSL. All my rockets are low power, all under 3 feet tall. Rather not try to carry them in luggage. Have other rocketeers tried shipping them to the Hotel they are staying at?

I was looking at Fed Ex. Says you can have stuff held at a location. Maybe have rockets shipped to Victorville?

f.You can ship to your hotel, or you can ship to yourself at a UPS store and they will hold it a limited amount of time. In both cases you want to let them know in advance. Most hotels will not accept or store motors or other flammable stuff.

Yes, we will have vendors on site.

If you don't find other ways to ship your stuff, PM me.

Thanks, I will call hotel and see if they will hold it for me.

This is my first time to NSL or any large event.

Will be cool to see what everyone else is flying. How many launches does the typical low power person get to do, (without being annoying)? I am trying to figure out how many rockets to ship.

I will be in a rental car, which will easily hold my stuff. I will buy a cheap travel chair to sit in, and will have lots of sunscreen and a hat. If anybody can spare a corner under a tarp or shade in the heat of the day, I would be much appreciative!

I buy a 30" x 15" x 15" box from my local UPS store.
Actually, I have bought three of them over the years to use for shipping mid/low-power kits.
I cut up two of the boxes and glue the parts to the sides/bottom of one box to reinforce it.
This 'one' box has been used to ship my models from San Diego to three different NARAMs (-51, 54 & -55).

I contact the person in charge of each event and they will recommend someone (Often themselves) to whom you can ship the box.
Never had a problem.

The box gets banged up but the models come through fine (I use Styrofoam peanuts and wrap each model in packing paper (won't stick to paint)
or use cheap white towels I buy in a pack at Target).

Be sure to write your return address on the top left corner of the box.

I, also, put my home address on the 'Ship To' area of the box and cover it with a large (8 1/2" x 11" printed) label of the receiving address.
When I go to ship the box back home I remove the 'label' and there is my return address already marked on the box.

The number of launches you can do depend on the number of folks who fly from those pads. We will have our range set up with three groups of pads, radiating from Launch control. Each of these will have eight low power pads, for up to G, eight "mid" pads, up to K, and six pads for up to M. There will also be an away bank for rockets up to the California maximum. We are expecting at least one cluster of M motors from the away pads.

There is usually some shade and table space available from our local folks. Please remember plenty of water!

If folks need help, we usually can work things out. If your hotel or shipping company can't hold your stuff, PM me.

I do plan to stop by the Comfort Suites (the official hotel) and talk to them about receiving packages, and will post what they say. Anyone staying elsewhere should contact them in advance if you are shipping something.

Usually hotels are very accommodating, as long as there are no motors or other pyrotechnics in the shipment.
