I can pretty much tell you that you'll find a hard time finding one used. I don't think anyone would want to part with one after using it. They are fantastic.

I have one I can give you. It's just in the field.. somewhere.. I know roughly where it is.. :D

Seriously, I take about a half hour each launch scouring the area.. but it's been about 2 years now.. seriously doubt I'll find it! Or if it'll even work at this point!

I'm willing to put money on someone else found it and is enjoying the use of it...at your expense...

Likely not. There was only abut 10 of us at that particular launch. One of the older club mates was rather disappointed when I mentioned I had lost it, saying that we could have made searching for it a group effort. I spent a good hour or more looking for it, and have always spent a bit of time "in the area" looking for it. it was mostly likely lost in the drainage ditch (very tall grass, big ugly spiders, and bulrushes..)

And, frankly, if someone had found it and is using, more power to them. It was worth their effort!

I did mention to John, that he should be molding the cases out of day-glow orange or chartreuse or neon pink...

If you use the Dino Protector you can really see it hanging on that kevlar....

Same thing happened to my Alt3; ordered a new shell from JL and it works fine.
If yours works fine with a new shell then it most definitely wasn't the same thing as mine, my LCD screen is almost cut clean in half where the fiberglass body tube impacted it into the ground. This was in a dino protector too. the picture is after I poured the pieces out onto the table

It's just a flesh wound...OK, I didn't notice that the LCD screen is damaged - I just thought it was on the other side of the altimeter.

I would be willing to donate cases to anyone who will paint them nicely (fluorescent nail polish?) and give/sell them to forum members. Even just a band around the edges would help.

By the way, for anyone who needs to take apart our altimeters, the tool we use to do that is pretty cheap, makes it simple, and doesn't scratch the case. They look like this:
