So Who's Launching a Saturn V On July 20th?

Mine is still mostly unbuilt. I really don't have the time, the dexterity or the patience to do a build of that nature, but I'm trying. Got two months till the deadline!

I think MDRA is having a massive Sat V drag race, maybe more than one.

I'm going with the Estes 1:200 RTF model with my granddaughter.

I have an Estes 1:100 kit still in the box. Not sure if that one is going to make it in time.

I also have 2 of the Estes 1:200 RTF - At least one of those should still be RTF by then... I hope :)

I have the 1/200 Estes RTF model, and I will fly that on D10 motors. I also have the 1/100 Estes kit, and would like to have it ready, but it's not actually the kind of kit I enjoy building. I'm not sure about that one. I may scratch-build something bigger and very sport scale (without all the fiddly bits) and fly that instead.

The Eagle landed on the moon on July 20, but the Apollo 11 Saturn V launch was on July 16.

I have a Zooch and FlisKit MMX Saturn V and the Estes RTF 1/200. Not going to try to build the 1/100 kit in a rush for flying it this year. I will try to launch one of them, probably the MMX since I’m sure there will be plenty of the other big kits there.

Seems like the 1/200th scale may find a common place wherever it may be flown. I believe Estes may have knocked it out of the park with this RTF version. It just simply says "Fly me" without any other obligation to build.

I've been slowly plugging away at an Apogee SatV since December. It's about 3/4 built, but then there's finishing and painting. Hopefully I'll have it done by July. If I can't get the Apogee done in time I have a Peter Alway SatV built as well as a Dr. Zooch and a Fliskits Mighty Saturn I can fly. I do see one of the RTF models in my future though.

You might try this source for the RTF version. Pretty good deal. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Estes-Satu...:XEoAAOSwZEhcyNqM:sc:USPSPriority!98031!US!-1

Since the 20th is a Saturday I might have my 1:100 scale complete by then. Might have to light it up in a local park :).

Interestingly ISRO (the Indian equivalent of NASA) is looking at launching their moon mission 12-16th July. 16th would be 50th anniversary launch of Apollo 11.

I'm flying this.
