Loved it.

I'll say this much: Your satisfaction will be directly proportional to your familiarity with the previous 21 films. This was a total love-letter fan-service smash-em-up and I thought it was great.

I have 20 of the 21 movies (no Captain Marvel.) I think that I might binge on them over the next week and, maybe, by then, the crowds will have trimmed but yet still no spoilers. Thanks for the heads up.

Loved it!

One small spoiler... No final scene at the very end of the credits in the China release of the film.

That is significant! We obviously have a different view on spoilers. Hope others don't screw up this thread.

I just heard/read this morning that there were 21 films. Twenty one!! I had no idea. Honestly, I didn't think that I had seen any of the "Avengers" films, but maybe I have? I know that I haven't seen any of the actual "Avengers" movies, but it seems like perhaps those "previous 21" include some I'm not really thinking of. I mean I have seen some Marvel/superhero movies, but they've never made that much of an impression on me, and none of them I ever thought of as "Avengers".

What are the films they are referring to? Did they really make 21 films that were branded as "Avengers" and I missed them pretty much entirely? (Off the top of my head I can think of maybe four or five)

Are any of them as good as my all-time favourite "superhero film" ...... Dr. Horrible's SingAlong Blog?

Interesting. I guess I have heard of most (if not all) of them. Didn't really think there were that many, but it does make sense now.

Turns out I have seen a total of two of them:
* the first Iron Man (which I should have realized was an Avengers movie)
* the first Guardians of the Galaxy (which I didn't see until just a couple months ago).
Both were fun, well done, and I enjoyed them. Just not that much of a thing for me.

So, Captain Hammer and Moist are not on the Avengers team are they? (or maybe they actually ARE, and that's the big reveal/surprise in this latest movie? Or maybe THEY are the big super-villains? And Dr. Horrible ends up saving the universe?)

Just watched it with the family.
Had fun.
Active audience participation made it 2x as good.
Even my wife and daughter, who did not see the previous Avengers flick and don't really care for the genre, enjoyed it.

My son and I just saw this today. No spoilers, just one caution: Empty your bladder at least twice before the movie starts. And maybe skip the drinks during the movie, it's very close to three hours long. Now, go see it!!!

I really enjoyed it. Good twists, plenty of uncertainty throughout, the loss factor remains (especially for someone that grew up watching the mcu characters develop since Ironman in 09)

You're going to want to see Captain Marvel too. Just saying.

I agree. The film has so many call-backs and references and in-jokes that relate to almost all of the previous films. More important is the payoff for being invested in the development of these characters and their stories over 11 years. I've heard non-fans like it well enough, but I stick by my original statement: "Your satisfaction will be directly proportional to your familiarity with the previous 21 films." If you liked it after seeing only a few MCU movies, you'll absolutely LOVE IT if you've seen them all.

It is a fun movie and definitely worth seeing with plenty of appearances of old Marvel favorites and some good funny lines. But, in a way, it has the old tired plot mechanism of the cavalry/fight scene at or near the end, especially like so many Marvel superhero movies.
