I was able to get the nosecone primed sanded and shot with the metallic base coat. I have to order the metallic purple for the nose cone and then ill be able to finish it up.

Alright another update. I was able to finish up the AV-Bay with the M4 eyenuts for shock cord attachment points.

I decide I’m going to paint the upper half of the rocket and keep the lower half carbon. I ran out of the metallic coat so I need to run out and get more, however finals are next week so it’s not a huge priority if I do the preliminary launches without paint.

I got a 38-29mm motor mount adaptor so that I can test fly it on smaller motors and slowly work my way up to the k1127. This is to get myself reacquainted with the hobby and the flow of things but also to get used to all the new electronics I’ll be using. Right now the plan is to test fly it on Saturday at URRG’s first launch with a G77, which will put it up to about a thousand feet. This will only be able to happen if I can find someone kind enough to operate my TeleGPS as there haven’t been and HAM Technicians tests to take to be able to get licensed. I also made up some charge canisters and will be doing ground testing in the next couple of days before the launch.

Your thread title was slightly misleading...I saw "V2" in it and was thinking "Vergeltungswaffe 2" ... lol (I just bought a LOC 5.56" V2) Your Aurora looks awesome, love the carbon fiber. I also finally flew my Eggtimer Quark that you assembled for me... Two flights at Red Glare. 1st one: 2 F67 + 1 F80. 2nd one: 2 E40 + 1 H175. Here is link to my online rockets folder, go to the Red Glare folder and look at the flights (Mine is "Nice Autumnal Mead") 4" Rocket.

Thank you. Im glad to hear everything is working well for you. Great looking flight!

This is fantastic, really motivated me to get going again with my scratch built carbon build. Good work.

Everything’s starting to come together now. I finished the paint on the payload Bay so the top half of the rocket is now completely done. I also received the batteries I’ll be using for the Proton. I went with 300mah 2s 30c batteries. They fit just perfect in the AV-Bay so everything is snug.

I plan on doing the clear coat on the rest of the rocket tomorrow as it’s supposed to be nice out and then it will have a day to dry completely. Then onto the launch on Saturday!

Ejection charge tests are complete. I’ll be using .75g to pop the drogue and 1g to pop the main. I also finished the clear on the bottom half. I can finally say it’s done!

I’ll get more closeup pictures of everything later.

Unfortunately I have nothing to report back on except for a lot of driving.. The launch ended up getting canceled due to the weather (It started snowing out of nowhere when it was supposed to be mid 50’s out). However there is another launch on May 18th which will allow me to take my ham radio test before the launch so I can use my TeleGPS. As promised here are some more pictures of everything finished and fit together.
