You my friend, have taken my work from the flat page, and brought life to it. Thanks, it looks great. Will be keep an eye on this build. You are doing an awesome job. A one of a kind.

Keep them flying.
Frank.

Thx all for the compliments.

I must say that saluki's graphics are what make this thing pop! And, they fit perfectly.

More progress, I cut these into 8 sections and patiently applied them.

Cheers!!

After looking at all of that, I think My Semroc S1B is gonna stay in the box for a while...

OK,

All decals are on including a little tribute to Semroc on the capsule.

Being disabled takes me much longer to accomplish tasks but I finally can get the work done with some patience and time.

Now waiting for a good day to shoot the flat clear coat.

This kit with saluki's graphics and vcp's 3D printed shroud have made this an extremely educational and rewarding build.

OUTSTANDING job. You’re the first to complete a Saturn 1b with my wraps. I hope you're as happy with it's looks as I am. A real nice looking rocket and a fine piece of art, all in one. Your work at turning the wraps into decals, and your skills of applying them payed off big time. I'll say it again AWESOME Saturn, and the tribute to SEMROC is great.

Once again great work.
Frank.

THX Frank!!

Those wraps are indeed incredible!

They were a true inspiration to complete the kit.

I heartily suggest that anyone who was lucky enough to snag one of these remarkable kits use Frank's wraps..you will not be dissapointed.

Cheers!!

Very, very good work. This build is inspirational....and sets the bar for Saturn 1B builds as Chris's blog did for the Saturn V. I'm sure it'll be linked when future 1B build threads pop up. You've got one to be very proud of there!

THX Fred!! I had a work order so I roger'd it roundly!!....

I just remembered that I had not done some 3D details, retros, fuel vents and conduits.

I am going to add those and then clear.

Might take a bit more time...may need another work order...

For those of you who don't know what the he** I'm talking about, check out "Fred Garvin, Male Prostitute" on youtube...

Finally got the 3D "doodads" finished and the flat clear coat.

Here are some final pix before she flies...(very nervous about that)......

THX again to TRF braintrust who helped me get this one done!!!

Cheers!

Excellent job on this great kit.
Just so happens I have one of these still in the box unbuilt and now you have motivated me. Iwill have to build on bad days because after that really long winter all I want to do is rockets,rc planes and happy hours.

In ordering the 3D tank fairing is the full ring or the 2 1/2 rings preferable?
Also has there been any progress on the 3D tower?

Thanks again for a great build thread.

Ed

THX Ed, it was a really fun build.

I used the 1 piece shroud on mine and it worked fine.

I would contact Gary (vcp) to inquire about the tower.

I built mine from the kit stock and found it rather fun as long as you take your time and exercise patience.

Cheers!!

I know it an older post but do you know if they still make the shroud and ring set and who has them.
I could not find it on etsy.
thanks

I've been working on this winter project, and got one of the 3D printed tank shroud for the 1B.
Easy to clean up with sand paper. The fit is great. The price is right. This will help the build of the 1/70 Saturn 1B a lot.
I hope this kit becomes available again.
Here are a few pic.

Did you find that you liked the accur8 skins? I am getting ready to start my Semroc S1B build and 65 bucks for the skins is kind of steep. Did you find they were worth it?

I know that I paid way less than 65 bucks
Don't know if I would pay that much.
