I wish you the best of luck. My brother is 57 years old going through the same thing. He had surgey 2 weeks ago. His Doctor told him to measure progress by the week not daily.

I can offer this comfort:

Prostate cancer that is called stage 4 due to a large tumor size (T4) or due to spread to nearby lymph nodes has a 5-year survival rate of nearly 100%.

I know that those provide small comfort right now, but I'm hoping the best for you.

You got mine Brother. I've got friends that have beat similar, just hang in there. That's why the colonoscopy is so important once you hit 50. Even though the GoLYTELY treatment is a whole lot of un fun..

I'm not going to tell you the treatments are easy or pleasant ( though they aren't as bad as you likely have them worked up to be in your mind )
but I will tell you that in what you asked for you are on the correct path.
This isn't over because a doctor says some discouraging things to you..
Your attitude through this means everything..
You hang in there and fight..
Do not forget,
nothing is written in stone..

Easy for me to say... but try to stay as positive as possible throughout the process. Attitude can make a huge difference.

Best wishes to you. Something learned from two good friends diagnosed with cancer: no matter how bad the prognosis is, those are averages and you are an individual. Many people beat the odds.

You are now the sixth person I will be praying for with cancer. So sorry to hear it. Cancer sucks. I am reminded of that every day.

Oncologists aren't like any other type of doctor.
They lean more toward the scientist side of medicine..
They work heavily in odds and averages..
No matter what they say to you,
you must remember,
They are averaging out a large # of cases similar to yours.
In all of their averaging there are many cases that don't adhere to their numbers..
You are not a large number of cases,
You are an individual case..

Your attitude is all important..
Stay positive..
