I'll have my big gray trailer there all 3 days. I have lots of tools and such. You should try to pit near me so we can help each other. Let me know.

Wow, two weeks from today! My rockets are almost all prepped. Now, what will I do with myself for the next two weeks?

I'm not sure either, and apparently my rockets are multiplying on their own now.... If you see a guy carrying around a King Kraken, looking confused, please feel free to say hello. I'm trying to remember to bring all my paperwork filled out (L1), and simulation results with CP locations.

UFO Invader x4 is almost ready. Alien Invader x4 is next up and, time permitting, Twice as Mean Machine will be ready. The Bertha Family (including Weird Uncle Bertha) is ready too. K and J motors have been ordered for pickup. Hs and Is will be bought as required

Launch window all three days is 9 Am to 5 PM, barring weather. Also, on Sunday late in the day, if no one is there with something to fly, they will start tearing down the equipment early.

Right now, Sunday looks to be rainy. Friday may be the primo day.

Thanks. I'm hoping to get an L2 cert flight in on Saturday, anything else would be gravey. I'll try to be there early and see how the weather develops. I have a couple of other rockets besides the DX3 for the L2 so I should be able to get something in the air to justify the long drive.

Please refer to the MDRA website (mdrocketry.org), Facebook page or twitter feed for official details related to Red Glare 20.

The thing to know about Eastern Shore weather is that it is often unpredictable. I remember driving to a launch at Higs Farm a few years ago on a day where all forecasts said 0% chance of precipitation. That's ZERO. When I got there, it was snowing with whiteout conditions. Literally could not see the club trailer about 30 feet away from me. I turned around and drove home.

Another time I stayed home because there was over a 90% chance of rain, and then I found out that it was beautiful at the farm and lots of people launched rockets.

My policy now is to just go and see what happens when I get there.

Schedule has cleared up, leave approved! Working on OR sims....anyone know the length of the 1010 rails?

At this point one week out the weather forecast is the same for all 3 days. Partly cloudy in the 60s, wind 5 to 10 mph. Hope that holds up.
I, too. Otherwise, I will have another N motor sitting in my garage for a year.

Heck yeah,,
If the spring Red Glare's weather actually happens the way the weather report looks right now
I think this'll be the nicest weather Spring Red Glare in recent history..
Heck yeah,,
This is the right club, on the right field..
AND with a weather report lookin like it is ???

Man, if anybody's on the fence about this one
you better jump off on the Higgs farm side,, lol..
This is going to be a launch of all of 2019 "not to be missed"...

Teddy

Well, Thursday's weather looks nice for those of us setting up the field. Friday is iffy at this point ... get there early! Saturday and Sunday look fantastic -- clear skies, no wind, high about 70. If you have been dragging your heals, COME ON OUT!

My final list will be:
  • Madcow Formula 200 (8" X 124") FG on an N1515, EX sparky to 7500'.
  • Performance Hobbies MegaNuk (7.5" X 106") FG on a Loki M1650 CT to a mile.
  • MAC Performance Scorpion (3" X 60") canvas phenolic on a Loki J300 R to 7500'.
  • Madcow Formula 75 (3" X 47") FG on a Loki I316 SF to 2700'.
I'll have some back-up motors for lower flights in case weather changes.

Tom and I will be setting up the Yellow Submarine for the P motor flight on Thursday afternoon. Not sure which day Tom intends to launch, but could be Friday if weather permits.

I did this back at LDRS, is there any issue dropping my 18' trailer on Thursday afternoon?
Best to check with the board as I cannot give you any kind of official answer. But I believe it is okay to leave vehicles as long as they are not occupied, i.e., no camping/sleeping on the field.

Are spectators welcome at Red Glare? I know my kids and some of their TARC team members are interested in seeing some big rockets! I'm considering joining MDRA to pursue an L1 cert, but none of us are MDRA members. Not looking to fly, just watch the action for a few hours...

Of course you're welcome to spectate !
Please don't hesitate to stop by.

Caution, it's addictive. I went to my first Red Glare right after becoming a BAR, within the next 2 opportunities I was a L1 and thigh deep in kits, motors, and electronics!
