Reduced price on an Aerotech 38/480 casing plus seal disc plus closures. Trying to move hardware. After selling the Sandhawk I simply don’t need that kind of impulse.

Started to refinish my XTF-18. Going to take some sanding on the inside tubes. Coated them with CA when I first built it to stiffen them up. Making new rudder fin also. And I'm going to take measures because ever since I built this I wanted to do an up scale to BT-80. This is a bt-60 and is one of my favorites.I have another rocket this one piggy backs on. That also has been torn down to refinish.

After researching a few rocket kit manufacturers websites, I decided to employ a "Gorilla style" shock mount system in my current scratch build project. Thank you to these terrific manufacturers, who freely share their designs and plans online without the purchase of their products ( I may employ a piston style on my next build). I thought I would share with you good folks my progress as I assembled this today. Scratch building has 2 advantages to myself, one being I will own a truly unique rocket and two, being cost although I have to question this benefit until the rocket is completed and I tally up expenses. Next up; cutting some strakes from bass wood strips. Thanks to all for letting me share in one of my favorite hobbies and happy flying.2403-174406.jpg

Yes, it is nice that manufactures share there designs. Do you have a thread for this build?

Roger that. I expected them to be small, but i was still shocked to see how small they were. My first Eggtimer build, wish me luck.
I used a white paper plate on top of white printer paper. Carefully open the tape/reel to get component to drop onto plate from a few inches away. And don't have a fan on or blow too hard near them, they go bye bye. Built quark, quantum, and eggfinder stuff.

Finished painting LOC Hi-Tech 45 and LOC Forte. Did them just like on their website. Stickers from stickershock23 will be put on later this week. Both of these kits are from the mid/early 90s.
Nearly done with Leviathan paint job. Just need to do the accent color painting. I will use a Deep Blue I have already b/c I am not going to buy a can of slime green color just for the limited amount of use. And its my favorite color.
The 'black' you see in the pictures is actually Rustoleum 2x Ultra Cover Paint+Primer - Oil Rubbed Bronze Metallic 327906. Man is it sharp looking. The Silver is same brand but Metallic Aluminum 249128. Looks amazing.

FC00F9BF-26FA-4F8A-9AE3-3FB16D5A52EC.jpeg Mailed a RMS 38/480 casing to mailman today. Working on selling $700 of German aftermarket suspension Volvo rally car parts to a client in Australia. That shipping quote scares us both LOL. (Maybe I’ll finish Hyper 54 L2 build with the money and have some leftover).

Interviewing at McDonalds tomorrow until I get a better engineer job. Parents are rage quitting on a vacation already.

Oh my figure of speech those are beautiful!

Anyway, received the Red Nova that I bought from John (Woody's Workshop). Looks like it'll be a pretty straightforward build. Once it's done I'll probably buy another one to bash into the two stager it looks like, but this one I'll build stock. Except I'll leave out the engine block to allow for longer motors, as this kit is only made for 24×70. And I'll need a different motor retainer to get rid of the tab on the front of the motor hook, since that's just as bad as the block. So, "stockish".

Opened up a little box from Mach 1 rocketry. The 5.5" Chimera, standing 10 feet tall.

The Polecat BBII booster section is getting one last Red Plague treatment to knock out some stubborn pinholes. After this round, it'll get one more coat of primer, then off to paint.20190325_124104.jpg

Took an idea I saw here on the Forum and made a "glue-less" nosecone for my Darkstar Jr. I like this idea for now since I'm thinking in the future to add a GPS. Could replace the stainless all thread with nylon or PTFE.IMG_20190326_193439.jpg

Finished up ground testing on my Extreme Darkstar. Broke it down cleaned it and repacked everything to get a final weight and CG. Hoping to get a quick coat of primer on it before a launch this weekend at Klodburst on a research K500 to about 8500' if all goes well.

Radios (GPS receiver, telemetry transmitter) will do poorly at best inside the CF nose, unless you drill through the bulkhead and place their antennas below. (And the airframe isn't CF too.)

I'm pretty sure that's just black fiberglass on his Dark Star nose cone. Mine was the same color. With red fiberglass tubes.
