Checked Eggtimer Quark parts against the packing list. Even got a few extras caps and resistors. Ordered a bare bones 15w Hakko soldering iron (View attachment 377921 about 2x the price of the kit). Got out some tools of the former trade to help with assembly. Next need to go shopping for some improved lighting.
The extras are there for a reason....drop one and you will discover just how hard those teeny tiny caps and resistors are to find. [emoji3]

Roger that. I expected them to be small, but i was still shocked to see how small they were. My first Eggtimer build, wish me luck.

Sold a Mt4 timer and put the Wildman 2.6” sandhawk up for sale. Feel free to haggle a price for a finless sandhawk... lol.

There is a brewery in Huntsville called Straight to Ale. They have several space themed drinks including the Werner von Brown Ale (since this is Rocket City, this is no surprise. We even have one called rocket republic, and their tap handle is a Sat5)

Space beer aside, Straight to Ale has a couple large rockets hanging from the ceiling. I was there with co and ex-coworkers a couple nights ago and took a couple bad pictures.

The 1st one looks like its made out of plastic drain pipe, and the giant fins present some build and flutter challenges.
The 2nd one has an AeroPack sticker, an M1790 decal with what looks like launch counter stencils on it and G12 (maybe 54mm) showing between the small fins, so I think there's a good chance it's flown before. Potential 2-stage configuration?

Anyways, I pulled some rough dimensions from my pictures, and made up a couple quick orks for the fun of it. Anyone interested is free to take the designs and run!

Renewed my NAR membership in anticipation of the flying season starting up here. Found out that with my vacation schedule, there is very little chance that I'll be able to make the June Swoosh regional launch at Tri Cities this year :(, so I am setting a plan to make a launch later in the same month (NXRS in Oregon).

The one with the big fins is a hybrid rockoon. There are some more details here: https://chapters.nss.org/al/HAL5///HALO/SL-2/

Those motors are dangerous. Send them to me and I will see that they are properly disposed of. I am, after all, an expert. I'll even pay for the shipping.

Well Initially I shot about 12 rockets today including Flash, Alpha(s), Astron Explorer , Amazon, Nike(s) , and Wizard

Overall status of the launches were good Weather today was 73 and 11 mphs wind which was non constant in a direction We did some spot landings with both streamers , parachutes. (the target being 35 yrds) We didnt do so well just cause of wind pasterns being unpredictable.

One rocket was MIA and was never seen again due to it not being recovered from power lines

The "New" Flash in which i made not but 2 hours ago was destroyed just as it was one Thursday (the parachute and air frame separated from each other) the fact was we used a C6-7 and we were able to retrieve the other portion which sadly showed that the chock cord had been snapped where it was initially tied to the rocket (Knot and all was still there). Hmmmm idk maybe i should call for a replacement .

Astron Explorer had its first successful flight today with a E9-8 it flew well and we retreivd it with two broken fins... :( no bueno i told the other guys they were going to have to do the replacing and not me cause i was sick of repairing the damned thing.

Here are some vids not all of them are best of quality:

Awesome

Is that the AT or CTI H225?

CTI H225. I'm loving the simplicity of CTI's motor system. Don't need any additional tools to strip the ignitor wires or anything like that, it's great. Performed excellent, straight as an arrow flight with these beautiful shock diamonds to boot.

I can't seem to find any Stratologger CFs in stock at any of the vendors. PerfectFlight is out of stock and has not responded to my email yet, seems kind of weird that no one has them in stock.

Nice, I've used the same motor in my 4" Patriot a couple times. Usually around 1/4mile up. Love cesaroni as well, Shame about the recent price hike.

Try yard sale. That's where I got mine, and theyve been perfectly reliable. Very popular and capable dd altimeter

Flight of the Estes Leviathan. Aerotech DMS I205 motor, 10 second delay. Approximately a half mile high. Jolly Logic Chute Release at 400 feet. 4K sports camera in my 3D printed spacecraft.

If it's so popular why are they no longer manufacturing them and supplying them to their vendors and their own store? It just seems a bit weird that NONE of the vendors have had it in stock for a long time even though it is "popular". I love my 4" Patriot as well, the new CTI prices are pretty comparable to AT so it's not much of an issue.

IMG_20190324_082204.jpg Building the AV bay for the Darkstar Jr. Missile Works RRC2+. I'll be using Wildman e-matches with ffffg in glove fingers for charges. I don't know if I want to use the rotary switch and the terminal blocks or go twist and tape and wire the matches direct to the board. I'm tilting toward the simple approach. I used one of these switches before and it failed so I'm thinking of leaving it out even though the sled has that nice mounting location.
Anyone care to give an opinion, or suggest another option?
