The engine spacer tubes have always been a little tough to get. They include them in kits and motor mount sets. Other than that I cut down expended 24mm casings to make them. That option works best if you can leave them installed as they are usually a little snug and not easy to remove.

DONT purchase them. Simply take one that you have.....or get the length from somebody....Then, take a spent 24mm Estes motor....and carefully cut it the same length....clean it out real good. Then sand the cut edge smooth....saturate the edges with CA, sand smooth again.....now you have a new spacer. Make as many as you want. I will measure mine when I get home if nobody lets you know the length by then!

True, I forgot that they were the same as the Estes motor casing. They're an inch long I believe.

I like your idea. But hard to cut with a dull pocketknife.

You can also use a JT-50C (BT-50 stage coupler that is one inch long) for this if need be.

Every kit that has a 24mm mount for E9/E12 motors comes with one of these orange spacers and they're also supplied in the Estes 29/24mm motor adapters, so they tend to accumulate over time.

Long story short my Conquest spat out a RMS 24/40 casing last Saturday at Kentucky sod farm launch. So I lost its spacer and the AT casing. Then I was out of spacers for this Extreme 12. Anyways you all made it work with what I had.

May want to peel an outer layer from the homeade motor case spacer so it doesn't fit as tight as a normal motor

Sigh... This Kenn guy doesn’t know the half of my flying troubles this season. Lost a high power RMS 38/240 casing at HARA Jackson 5 and another at Tripoli Tampa. The madcow retainer worked perfectly at Kentucky for high power thank god this time. The loses were from bad friction fit. I’ll probably be on the farmer’s naughty list for awhile after the first high dollar excessively high rpm industrial blade crashes into it. HARA is aware of the issue. I just hope somebody other than the farmer finds the casings.

Before I use the new orange engine spacers, I sand them to remove the glassine coat and coat the inside, outside and the ends with clear epoxy. Mine have no signs of any wear except for discoloration that just wipes off. I could use soap and water on them because they are also water resistant with the epoxy coat.

I haven't tried to make a spacer with a spent engine casing. If I do make one, I would peel enough layers off to match up with the Estes spacer, sand it clean, round all the edges, paint it orange and clear epoxy the whole thing. The orange will help you locate it in the big range box.

I didn't need one the last time I launched my Executioner and it flew fine. Well it did sort of crisp the rear part of the motor mount tube. (I had to make a new piece of tube to glue on the back of it, which forced me to look around to find that 24mm spacer I had.)
