Cheap 4k camera?

I have a similar GoPro knockoff and it's absolutely awful. Pretty much unusable, shuts down/won't start etc.,etc..
 
It's not a bad camera for the price. I use mine in 1080 mode mostly, the 4k mode is not super-clear but OK.
 
The original Mobius camera is still available, I have 2, lots of programming choices, a slew of shrouds avaible from Additive Aerospace, the HD mode is sharp enough for me at $70.
 
The Dragon Touch is a GoPro knockoff so it fits with all the accessories you can get for the Gopro. It's way too big to use as a flight camera in most rockets, I've been using mine to take video at the pad or head-mounted to record rocket glider flights.
 
The obvious questions is - "what are you going to use that for?"
For the longest time I thought Go-Pro's were "cool", but way too expensive. Besides... "what am I going to use that for?" Really too big to mount on a rocket - and not very aerodynamic.

Fast forward a few years and now I own two Chinese knock-off "No-Pro's".

Realize you'll need to spend $100+ on the camera to get one with a speedy frame rate (120fps@1080p) and some stabilization.

This would be my choice -vs- This is what I used for the pad-shots in the video below.

 
The Foxeer Legend 3 has active stabilization as well. It fit perfectly on our LOC IRIS 3” and survived. It is a true 4K camera with a Sony optical CMOS sensor.... you’ll like it!

I'm with Scott on this one, I'm a huge fan of the Xiaomi Yi action cameras. I never wanted to pay GoPro pricing, especially for putting a camera in a rocket. But at $70USD the original Xiaomi Yi was and still is a legacy GoPro killer. Here are a few specs.

Ambarella AL7S SoC (same as the GoPro Hero3+ Silver)
16.0MP Sony Exmor R BSI CMOS image sensor
F2.8 aperture and with 155°wide angle
Broadcom wireless chipset with both WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0
It can shoot video at 1080p at 60fps and 720p at 120fps.

It meets or exceeds the specs of every GoPro up to the Hero 3+ Silver model.

As Scott linked to the Yi 4K camera is Xiaomi's latest offering. I don't have one or a need for one to be honest, I don't even own a 4K TV!

My profile picture is a a still from one of my Xiaomi Yi's that was riding along in the nose cone of my now CATOed half scale AMRAAM. Strangely when I pulled the microSD card from the camera post flight there was not data on it and I thought the camera had gone pear shaped. But when I charged the battery and powered the unit back up all of the video automagically wrote out to the microSD card. I suspect it was cached on the SoC somewhere and when the flight anomaly occurred it crashed and didn't empty the buffer onto disk.

Another option to consider would be to buy a GoPro Hero 5 (2018 model) and flash the firmware yourself to effectively unlock it to a Hero 5 Black. The two cameras are identical from a hardware perspective; the difference is a crippled firmware which is applied to the 2018 Hero 5 to justify the price differential between it and the 2018 Hero 5 Black unit.
