Another newbie here,
I got an Estes Argent and Ventris for my birthday about a year and a half ago and I've been HOOKED!

I bought a few Hobby Lob 40% off small rockets, and I ended up buying an AT Mustang...
That thing is a stout little monster!!!
And I was even more hooked!!!!

I haven't flown anything yet...just been building for the enjoyment of building...nice to have an "affordable" hobby (much cheaper than building hi-po engines!). LOL

Anyway. I've been looking at this forum and stuff on youtube for a while, I always end up here somehow!
This site is AWESOME!!!

I've been kinda learning Open Rocket too, still not sure what the graphs with the stability etc mean, but the build part and the "flight side profile" are pretty cool.
Maybe someone else can help me with the graphs sometime to figure out what is a safe stabile rocket vs one that aint.
I've been experimenting (for the builds sake) with adding 29mm MMs to some smaller rockets (darn hi-po engine habit!!! I'm addicted!!!),
I'd like to make sure they are safe to fly!!!

Anyhow, I moved a couple of months after I got started building and have just been piddling with the small rockets a little, I've finally got back to having some time to get back to my new hobby!
I bought the Loc 4" Goblin a couple of weeks ago and have been working on that. I LOVE IT!!
I've been TRYING to keep up with taking pictures of the build so I can document it, it seems that that is always helpful for certification...I'll try to figure out where to create a build thread if anyone is interested.
I'm not sure if anything I've done can help anyone but looking in on this site has sure helped me!!!
Even if I found the info a little too late, I'll know better on the next build!!!

Oh too, I joined the TRA last week and have been looking for a local chapter(?) to join that might be closer to where I live... I'm in Liberty County Texas (about 40 miles East of Houston) and there is so
much land out here, there has to be someone who flies in this area!??!

I hope I don't annoy y'all too much with questions that have been asked OVER AND OVER AGAIN by other newbies...I'm still figuring it out!!!

Thanks for having me!
And thanks for having this site!!!!

Welcome to the forum!

*note: HARA is indeed Huntsville Area rocketry Association, but that's the Huntsville AL, and may be a bit further drive than the OP is looking for.

Hey thanks for the replies!
I saw those clubs and are interested, I also checked ArtApplwhite's site.
Just that right now my transportation is not that trustworthy, I think that Tipoly Houston flies in Hearn or Paige, TX...just a little far for me.
Alabama...out of the question! LOL
Doh...gotta get me a ride!!!

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the build and flight. Feel free to ask questions.

Thanks for the welcomes!!!
I'm glad I finally joined here,
so much AMAZING rocketry going on!!!
I love this hobby and I'm just getting started!

Welcome to the forums and rockery! Now just empty your wallet now and get used to it! ;)

Yes, I've been priming my 4" Goblin this weekend and that thing eats paint like the cookie monster at the Oreo factory!!! LOL
Still, this hobby aint too bad on the wallet so far, cheaper that rebuilding car engines...SO FAR...LOL.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy the build and flight. Feel free to ask questions.

Thank you Sir!
I'm glad to be aboard!

Welcome! Enjoy your new obsession!
While we are an NAR club, the NASA Houston Rocket Club would probably be the closest. NAR membership is not a requirement, so you would be welcome.
The best place for info is the Facebook page, or Yahoo Group ( https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups...3BHNlYwNoZHIEc2xrA2hwaARzdGltZQMxNTUwOTA1NjE5)

We have a HPR launch this coming Saturday (first Saturday of the month). You will need to get put on the NASA Gate list before Thursday. Send me a PM and I can help you with that if you are interested.

Welcome to Tripoli! You can always click on the map listed on the Prefectures page of the Tripoli website. It’s new and improved and although not perfect it’s better than the silhouettes we used to have.

Hey Steve that looks great I just wanted to bring up that the pins seem to be associated with the Prefects home address and not the launch, meeting or general area. Tripoli Muskegon is pinned in Rob's home of Lansing which is a good 100 miles East of the clubs actual launch location. I know business meetings have been merged with SMASH's (NAR Club, same people) meetings and there's talk of a more thorough merger between the clubs.

Welcome!

Can't help you with the graphs and such (that's more of neil_w's thing), but if you're looking to make pretty accurate sims (flight characteristics and appearing) on OR, neil_w's and my tutorials *MIGHT* help.

Thanks for the welcome!!!
I've seen some of your work....I cant imagine how to figure out how you do it!!! It's awesome!!!

My motto is, to weigh everything and put it in the right location.....then add final paint....and TRY to add that in the right location....
lol
I say garbage in-garbage out...
I'm interested in accurate flight data first...
would you be interested in checking my OR files???
Or anyone else for that matter.....I'm open to input/tips/criticism on both building and figuring out OR.

Thanks!!

Thanks for the welcome and the info!....It does look like the Tripoli Houston and the NASA are the closest ones....just that, that it is far away enough away to be too far away...for the moment....LOL
and I feel like I gotta HAUL EVERYTHING rocket-wise to make sure I don't forget anything....plus I gotta get at LEAST 37 flights out of my 9 rocket set....LOL
:)
