When I read Happy Song this was the first thing that came to mind . . .

Boy, that's an oldie from the vault. I was reminded of this live version, and that little kid on drums really could hit the skins at that young age. Dig the stick twirl at 0:16....
He was the drummer for the Beach Boys 50th anniversary tour and the Japan show was quite a performance.

Come to think of it...quite a few happy songs in this (John Cowsill on drums).
The first half hour with the surf/hot rod medley is the best part, and the Japanese crowd knows the words to the songs....

I was part of this concert touring staff for two years. Always enjoyed this song.
Brings back a lot of good memories for me.

Did someone one ask for "Happy Songs"... on The Rocketry Forum??

WHAT... just What... could be MORE appropriate than this?

(Some AMAZING rocketry video clips in this one, y'all).

That's awesome. Gotta love The Beach Boys.

Vineyard always brings me to a happy place (the song starts at 1:28)...

Same artist for the next one. My 7 year old daughter & I sing this together all the time. It's pretty tough to beat "singing with your daughter happy."

++ on the Roger Dean autograph on the bottom. Is there a story behind this shirt?
Signed by all of the YES personnel for CttE and TfTO. Roger Dean, who did the artwork of both, also signed. This is probably my favorite signed "trophy" of all. If there's any doubt to the authenticity, here's another photo. ;) As for the shirt itself, I'm a big TfTO fan and I've seen them perform it.

Here's a photo of my wife and I with frinds of ours from UK, DK and IN at the final gig of the YES 35th tour in Braintree, UK. They perform "The Ritual" and "The Revealing Science of God" too. The Roger Dean designed stage is behind us.

I was too broke to go to the REAL TfTO concert in 1974 (before Wakeman bailed), and I couldn't make the TfTO/Drama redux in 2017. It probably wouldn't have been the same without Anderson, Wakeman, and Squire anyway. There's so much going on in that album that you can listen to it a zillion times and still hear stuff that you didn't know was there.

YES has become a cover band of YES. Jon Davidson, IMNSHO, should have stayed in Glass Hammer. Jon Anderson should be at the helm vocally. And, yes, YES is not the same without Chris Squire. Losing Chris Squire in 2015, then Greg Lake in 2016 and then, John Wetton in 2017 is so sad.

And you left out Keith Emerson.

True, Yes has no original member left (Anderson, Bruford, Squire, Kaye, Banks) or (with the exception of Steve Howe) even the classic line-up (Anderson, Bruford, Squire, Wakeman).

I saw both versions of Yes last year, they both weren't what they used to be. Rabin was never really part of the "Yes sound", Geoff Downes was decent but he's not Rick Wakeman. Anderson, Wakeman, and Howe would be awesome together but it's probably not gonna happen... apparently Anderson and Howe aren't on friendly terms and there are lawyers involved.

I was just thinking bassists. Yes, Emerson was a tragic loss. I've seen 500+ bands live, many as a repeat attender, and I've met so many of the greats. Sadly, I've never been one to get my photo taken with them. I have that YES group photo because there was somebody taking group photos, so my wife and I stepped up. I have a couple of candids my wife too when I was speaking with Marillion. Other than that, I've just never bothered. I last saw Wetton with District 97 at the NJ Prog House Homecoming gig -- an intimate small setting where my wife and I sat right in frount of John. They performed Starless and Bible Black, one of my favorite KC albums. Wetton and I have a mutual friend in the UK, so I always thought that I'd have time to get a photo with him if I ever wanted to. Sadly, I never will. Emerson headlined a NEARfest. While I spoke with him at length, I was busy handling broadcasting issues when others were getting photos with him. Another chance gone.

That's me waving my Starless and Bible Black LP when they go into the song. (28:20)

One of the things that helps that feeling is when you see in the videos that the performers are obviously smiling or having a ton of fun while making it...

OK Go has a lock on that...

and...

I also really like this one from Coldplay...

And reaching back into the depths of memory is one of my favorites as a kid...

Back in memory lane...

Keeping with a couple of guys that have been mentioned before... When they mix it up together...

I don't know about "ever heard," but this is one that came to mind. Love the video, too:

Some windows/top down fast driving music for a beautiful, cool, clear and sunny day with a retro touch of disco beat in the second one:
