Ah, GBI induction stabilized rocket. Looks like something GlenP could have incorporated in his Orion ascent abort test build. You are on the cutting edge, buds.
I have only one word for that: Bloodyfreakingorgeous! My winter 2018/19 madcow 4" DX3XL.
My daughter and I had a great time at the CMASS Winter Follies launch this weekend. Between the two of us, we burned 15 motors in four launches. Even though two of her flights CATOed, they went down in spectacular fashion.
Warning: Awesome rocket carnage video.
Before and after pics (taken by me and Curtis)
I am an advisor to our Rocket Team at my Tribal College. We have been invited to participate in this year's First Nations Launch Competion sponsered by The Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium & funded by NASA. The purpose? To get Native American students involved in STEM projects. So today we launched a small Estes rocket put together by my students & shot video of the launch which we will be uploading to the WSGC website. This is a requirement of the competition. We had a successful launch with a light snowfall & a light wind. Recovered the sucker too.
And this morning before going to work I did the final assembly on my Estes Expedition. Now for some body work, filler & sanding, before paint.

What in tarnation is "Induction Stabilization" ?Woo, you had to dig to find that one, or you have a good memory
iirc its also called Gas Dynamic Stabilization and there is at least one thread around TRF on it.What in tarnation is "Induction Stabilization" ?

Looks like he used a Fliskits Tres motor mount kit. They were available in 13mm (fit BT-50), 18 mm (fit BT-60), and 24 mm (fit BT-70). When the Tres first came out (2004) I upscaled it to 54 mm motors.I’m loving that last one with the three canted motors - got any pics that show some more details?! [emoji16]

Nytrunner: Not a good memory, a lot of digging. But when you said "my first post" my curiosity got the better of me.
Don't give up on NASA. With the government shutdown NASA is shut down too.Applied to a flight controller NASA entry level engineering job. Who knows? Haven’t heard back from my NASA hr buddy in over a month. Really this job search thingy is wearing me down. Can’t seem to land an interview anywhere.
I even have TRF people asking for my resume’ for cripes sake. LOL.
Best of luck. Next stop TARC, or is that just high schoolers?I am an advisor to our Rocket Team at my Tribal College. We have been invited to participate in this year's First Nations Launch Competion sponsered by The Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium & funded by NASA.
After my graduation in May of '95 I went about six months with only a handful of interviews and no offers. Then in November I had the task of picking among four.Applied to a flight controller NASA entry level engineering job. Who knows? Haven’t heard back from my NASA hr buddy in over a month. Theee's an article about it in Peak of Flight #379.Here's a link to the thread:https://www.rocketryforum.com/threads/new-gds-document-from-dean.136251/#post-1628952
Uses the rocket exhaust and a series of cutouts in the rocket body to move air in a stream through the tube.
Thanks for that, Joe. Adds a little more information to the pdf link in the thread. Hmmm, makes me feel like experimenting. Now, where was my scrap 7.5" tube?Theee's an article about it in Peak of Flight #379.
Which NASA center?Applied to a flight controller NASA entry level engineering job. Who knows?
Which NASA center?
We'll tell you, but you have to be inducted first.....
(I kid, it was too good an opportunity to pass up)
Thx for the info. Guess I've got some extra reading to do.Here's a link to the thread:https://www.rocketryforum.com/threads/new-gds-document-from-dean.136251/#post-1628952
Uses the rocket exhaust and a series of cutouts in the rocket body to move air in a stream through the tube. Similar to the Venturi effect, I guess, but I'm no scientist. Good option for finless scale rockets like the Peacekeeper, Gemini Titan, etc.

Kool! Thx. Even more reading...Theee's an article about it in Peak of Flight #379.
