Wayco,
Can we fit these in our Punishers??? We need to try!!! Dark matter Drag Race v2.0... :D:D

Well yeah.....
Despite the fact that Thrustcurve says they will fit, and of course they are a WILDMAN rocket, which everyone knows are designed to fit the largest motor available, I went ahead and dug down into my big motor cases and pulled out the 75/7680 casing and fit it into my 4" punisher. There is room, unless you have a big drogue package.
The down side is that I have only one of these casings, and you know how Sharon is.....

I’ve got a case Sharon can borrow.

Thanks for the offer Joe. I forgot how many folks from our side will be there.
We're still a ways from seeing this motor available, but you would think that by August we could pick up a few.
Nothing beats a Dark Matter Drag Race!

I’ll be sure to bring it to LDRS even though I’m not quite ready for an M motor. Nice that AeroTech makes some Dark Matter in smaller motors.

Drag Race!? Wait....you mean you have a case that Wayco can borrow ;)

Like I said, you know how Sharon is. Looks like the boss is in. Who knows, maybe she will own two 7680 cases by August.;)

Yeah, I'm having a serious love affair with the K850 DM we used in that drag race above. I've flown six and have two more in stock. That is one fine 54mm single use motor. Just not sure we can call it "smaller"...
Last year at Airfest, Sharon, Adrian and I flew L900's in a drag race, which reminds me, Adrian, we might not want to mention this to Bob....

Did you resurrect the Darkstar? Bring it to Airfest, lot's of Dark Matter loads there.

I rebuilt the front 2/3. You can see where I added the coupler. From 10 feet away you can’t tell. I’ll bring it to Airfest, along with a 4” Darkstar, a 4” Punisher and a 4” Madcow DX3, all of which are paint and avionics away from being done. I plan to fly them all several times this spring and at Hellfire, trying to get some experience with larger motors.

Joe

Hey Charlie, why can I never find a specific parts on the RCS page when I use the search function there? Just now I searched for “38fcpt” (38mm forward closure, plugged and tapped”)and “60133” (38mm forward open closure with threaded anchor point) and neither part could be found. (And by the way I already bought - and is enroute) the 38fcpt, so why didn’t the search routine find that?

Thanks,
Tom

My question is when you will be carrying 38/720, 29/40-120, and 24/60 casea again. As well as any other case from 38mm on down. I have been checking your webstore and still only find 18mm cases. This question quite possibly has been answered already but too many posts to read to find the answer I am looking for. Thank you for your time.

Is there a tapped floating closure at 54mm? I could sure use one for a Wildman Mach 2. I use the spaced system to avoid buying cases in every size, but I can’t figure out how to attach a shock cord other than to the forward closure.

Joe

Why would you attach a shock cord to the forward closure? Sounds like a bad idea. Plenty of other places/ways to attach a shock cord.

It's actually an awesome idea, that has been around for quite a while. I haven't heard of anyone having issues. I have two minimum dia rockets like this. It allows you to not be tied to a size of a motor based on the internal retainer. But each their own, there are a ton of options.

Why not use the 54 fpct

Question the 38mm J520 is it ok to use motor ejection or is other means recommended?

Thanks Charlie

That still needs the threaded closure, doesn’t it?
Yes.
Are you building a min dia?
The Aeropack you can run their retainer with an eyebolt up to 38mm and still use motor eject. From there you can use their retainer with eyebolt up to 98, but no motor eject. there are also the spacers that allow you to epoxy in the retainer further up to allow for bigger or smaller cases. Non-minimum rockets you can use an aft retainer and use the bypass retainer for cord connection OR use the threaded top closure. Giant leap also has a line.

BTW, The original "THOR" was NAR Section 251, founded 1967 or thereabouts...in West Chester, PA... Originally called Turk's Head...Hence:
Turks Head Organization of Rocketry...It disbanded early '80s
