My goals for this year:

Fly more of my own rockets (versus the girls' 5x Dragonfly)

Test and fly a sorbitol HPR motor

Start another big rocket project with students - hanging out with Team NUMB has got me thinking way too big...

I did fly my own rockets, including my never flown Chester’s Cheeto Chaser IV twice. I also flew my dual deploy Bigger Daddy twice (I had never done DD previously) and maybe a half dozen more HPR flights.

I didn’t get any further with sorbitol motors...

I am starting a project, more fast than big, but I think it counts.

I believe EXPJawa typically starts these threads but I haven't seen one yet and I'm impatient so here are a few of mine:

1. Hit 3 miles altitude. Our club waiver got raised to 18,000 feet. I might as well have fun with that.

2. I want to spend more time helping others with their stuff. Cert flights, getting into dual deploy, etc. My past launches were always with an agenda at each one (launch at least 3 times, launch all these rockets, those motors). Now that I got my L3 I feel like I can step back and help out others. Last launch I spent a decent amount of time helping a fellow club member find a rocket that drifted far away. We were joined by another member who can find needles in haystacks. It was a good learning experience for me and I was glad I could help.

3. Spend more time helping out at our low power field. I usually leave that field at the end of a launch feeling very satisfied, and I don't even launch any of my own rockets. My favorite parts are when kids cheer the launches, families ask about coming back or how to get more into rocketry because they've had so much fun.

I was able to accomplish all my 2018 goals (I think this was the first time I've gotten them all).

1. Passed 15K feet in November.
2. I helped others launch and recover and plan to continue.
3. I helped a lot on our low power field and now frankly I'm a little burned out on it. Hopefully taking a little break will help.

The fewer number of rockets launched in 2018 was a nice breather after getting my L3. That and the successful 16K+ launch has me motivated for 2019. I want to:
1. Max out my Madcow Reaper 3 on an L935. Should make it to above 13,000 feet and around Mach 1.3.
2. Launch my 2nd Level 3 motor. I'm waiting on an AT M1315 for the Drago XL. Should make it above 16K as well.
3. Have fun burning my way through my pile of reloads.

For 2019:
1. Finish my 3" diameter/29mm "KOSMO Club Rocket" (epoxy fillets/fin coatings completed New Year's Day)
2. Restart my long dormant 6" diameter L2 rocket, 80% complete since 1997.
3. Get a job so I can afford to go to launches and buy L2 motors. (This is really #1, not so much for the hobby as for the dinner table).
4. Find a flying site for at least MR or small L1 within 30 miles of home. Right now, I have to go to St. Louis, Walnut Grove, or any of several sites in Kansas.

Goals held over from last year
Build and fly a MD rocket (I'm still a chicken)
Break mach 1
HPR 2 stage (I've failed twice with MPR electronic staging, but practice makes perfect.)

New goals for this year
Get more experience tracking rockets that fly out of sight
Fly a rocket on a KNSB motor

Most important goal
Keep my kids building things instead of playing video games!

Weather thwarted most of the goals related to flying too. But, most importantly, I did build several new rockets with my kids.

I did fly my first KNSB motor, and the MD mach breaker is ready to go. I just need a decent day to fly it....
