With 2018 coming to a close soon I want to know what you have planned for 2019.

I’ll kick the list off with
-Land an engineering job aerospace or aviation oriented.

-Fly some more L1.

-L2 cert a minimum diameter.

-Anything else I can cram in is welcome.

My goal for 2019 is to get my L3 on a college budget. So far I have it all budgeted out and have purchased a Performer 98 kit so far. Recovery and electronics will be around $300 and the motor will be around $200-300, so the total budget should be around $800. I know that the point of an L3 is not to be "budget" but I think it will be an awesome project that will a lot of fun to complete.

Hopefully get my L2. I am thinking of using my 4" PAC-3 for the attempt. I would also really like to build at least 25% of the kits in my build pile.

Other possible build goals:
2.6" FG upscale of Estes Interceptor
3" (Upscale?) Thrustline Arapahoe E
FG Scratch build called "Nexus" - Projected specs: Length: 87.2" - Max Dia: 3.125" Mass (w/o Motor): 74.8 oz.

Nexus would be my other choice for an L2 attempt.

Last year I set a bunch of rocketry goals a d achieved very few of them, so:

Fly sugar at AIRFEST/LDRS

... which requires me to finish L2 before then.

My first goal is to attend BALLS for the first time. I already got the okay from my principal (my boss, I’m a teacher) and my wife (the real boss) so this one will happen.

My second goal is to fly something high. All of my rockets have been relatively low and slow up to this point, this will change at BALLS if all goes well.

My goal for 2019 is to reach more than 3300 feet in altitude with a 2 stage rocket powered by D motors. In 2018 I got close....

I also want to try to fly a rocket at Mach 1+.

In 2019 I plan on getting the rest of the mid-power kits I have acquired built and painted. I also want to plan out a paint scheme for my Darkstars inspired by our aircrafts at work. I have the paint codes, but I need to break out the pencil and paper to come up with the best design.

Attend every launch I can at the new MC^2 field.
Fly at least two rockets at LDRS
Fly at least two rockets at BALLS

Incidentally, I know this is waaay in advance, but if someone in the 'vicinity' (100 miles or so) of PartsUnknown (Murray) Kentucky is planning to go to either LDRS or BALLS, holler at me. I'll be driving a RAV4 and can take one other person and a few not-too-big rockets, broken down into 4' or 5' sections. Or we can use your bigger vehicle, if'n ya got one. I've got a hotel for LDRS but the only thing left was a queen bed. BALLS lodging is up in the air at present.

Best -- Terry

Fly a 2-stage APCP rocket, probably H-G though perhaps G-G or H-H.
Run for school board.

I know which one will take more of my time.

So many roll-overs from 2018.

New Years Resolutions:
  1. Get out to the desert to launch something
  2. Build down the LP build pile -- dispose of the never-to-be-built kits
  3. Finish the three stage (F to E to C) (thinking of naming the design Ill-considered III)
  4. Finish the finless-sustainer two-stage
  5. Build Finish the stand+enclosure for the Shapeoko XL CNC
  6. Assemble the Maslow CNC
  7. RSO/LCO at a club HP launch.
  8. Non-pyro dual deploy system (I have a plan)
  9. Solder (so much soldering).
  10. Cross the Kármán Line in a manned rocket glider powered by a rocket-candy + aerosolized cornstarch motor
Really, just #1.

#7 is going to be especially difficult, I am increasingly undependable.

1. Fly my Level one rocket successfully. It’s been built and ready for a November launch but all the HP launches keep getting canceled due to weather.
2. Fly Dual Deploy
3. BP two stage
4. Three APCP F or G motor cluster
5. Possibly Level 2 in the fall
6. Build 20 kits. 8 high power and 12 low power.
7. Solder more electronics.
8. Fly more. More total impulse not necessarily more flight numbers.
9. Buy not more than 10 more rocket kits.
10. APCP two stage.
11. Mile high.
12. Mach 1

MC2 has a new field!? where's it at?

Build a 3D printed Mars Lander. I got the original kit in late 1970 or so, when I was in no way ready to build a kit like that. Ended up using the parts for other models. Now for various reasons I want to put together and fly a 3D printed version.

Main goal - Complete both a Saturn 1B and Saturn V by June (there is an event/display then that I want to be ready for), I am concerned that my scale skills are not up to par...
Still need to decide which Saturn V though (Zooch, Alway, Estes, Apogee, Sirius, or Sheri - yes - I have one of each).
Re-fly my L3 rocket
Complete a total of 21 rocket builds (but with the time required for the Saturns this may not happen)

Finish several rocketry projects I started before the day job, tending to home and family matters, discretionary funding and other hobbies changed my priorities.

- Level 3 ...probably not.

They don't have a waiver yet, so it's low and mid only for the time being. Next launch is 19 January. I will be there unless it's cancelled.

Thanks! I'll let HARA know at our meeting this Thursday.

We've got our winter waiver field to 12k, but rain has been irritatingly uncooperative

Any guesses if/how much the proximity (20 miles) to all the air traffic at Ft. Campbell will impact your ability to get a waiver?

I’m planning on getting my feet wet with rocketry electronics for the first time. I want to retrofit my Warlock for airstarts and electronic deployment.

My other goal is to blow up, I mean “fly, all my E12 and E9 motors.
