RP-26 Peashooter RC Rocket Glider

I thought I'd share this here, I love my Iron Cross German themed RG, but Byron Badenbaugh was talking to me about taking one of my RokitStik Biplane kits and doing one in Stearman colors, I liked that idea, but figured that my Iron cross "bad guy" needed a "good guy counterpart" I've always liked the P-26 peashooter, so imagined this as a "Rocket Pursuit' version, ie RP-26.....I re-worked the wing shape and tail to be more "Army air corps" styled and am nearly done except for some yellow nose trim and some air corps star roundels to finish it off. It came out at 34" long, 2.6" diameter, 23" wingspan and right at 11 oz rtf.

More photos, I added a brighter silver 30 cal machine gun ahead of the cockpit.

Added the nose trim and headrest trim and a little machine gun detal....

Oh, dear.....I had been wanting something more airplane-like than the Battlecruiser....this is tempting indeed. I, too, have a soft spot for the P-26 - heritage Boeing's last production fighter.

I most likely will offer it as a kit, instructions are on my site already

Very nice look. Callie Graphics specializes in scale decals (stick on), and has several existing sets that might work. They do not have the P-26, but they have several decal sets with markings like the P-26.

Might also be cool to do this model in British or French WW1 markings.

Thanks for the callie graphics pointer, I've gotten some markings from them, but they were printed and I prefer cut vinyl on simple markings.

In any case, got out this morning to George Rachors and got three very nice flights, just needed a bit of roll and boost trim adjustment but not much. Flew great.

Thanks all, I'll work with Stickershock do do a simple marking set with the fuse and wing star roundels, cockpit window, black cockpit hole, machine guns and tail silver stripe, that should work with any color scheme, camo, inter-war, that way they can work with Mark to do custom tail art if they want and on my instructions I have the templates for the tail markings I did if anyone wants to replicate them. I agree that I like the Iron Cross a bit better, it's the classic Das Ugly Stik colors, but this one has it's own charm...
