Like the title says. What's the largest build you've done the Foam And Fly method? And the largest motor you've flown it on? Yes I just got my Foam kit from Wildman today.

I built a YANK Enterprises 4" IRIS and foamed the internal area of the fincan. Flown many times on 54mm motors up to the K805G. No problems.
Watched them build 5" Gizmo's at Wildman's during MWP, that flew the next day. 5 minute epoxy and zip ties held the fins in, then they foamed the fincans. One held up to an awesome J450DM DMS CATO only to be reflown just minutes later (Nice job Amy)...

Well since I wrote the instructions for such builds, I had to go Xtreme.
Built the [first series] years ago...Gizmo 5.5 in. with wire ties & foam. Yes it was alcohol related.
Flew it on CTI K-2045 V-max & either a 6 or 6xl dual thrust 54mm.

This all came about after a speed build contest where we [team Wildman] built a rocket, ready to fly, from a pile of parts, in 5 minutes 36 seconds!

When done correctly I defy you to dis-assemble them. Far stronger than typical epoxy fillet builds hands down.
After the Gizmo, the process became a choice of build technique for the Wildman mini's .

After several VERY abusive flights NC and tube were pretty much caput. I wanted the fins and after trying everything from clamping in a vice and striking with 2lb hammer to jumping on fincan thing to dislodge the fins, I eventually chiseled them out . I tried acetone, lacquer thinner...MEK...gasoline to dissolve to foam. NOTHING would touch it!
Done correctly you will have a bullet proof build.
Which kit?

Thanks for the input guys. CJ, it was your mini Wildman / Dark Star build thread that turned me on to the Foam and fly build method. I ordered foam from Tim Tuesday and it showed up today. Which kit? I've been stocking up on kits from Wild Man Connecticut the past couple months. A couple Mini's, couple Jr's and a Punisher 3. We'll see what I get on the monthly launch this Saturday to add to my collection. I plan on doing some building on the holiday weekend next week. If its holding up to 6 inch tubes on K's, that should keep me occupied for a little bit.

I'm fairly new to Rocketry, so I've been grabbing Kits, hardware and the essentials so come spring time I can buy motors, fly and get certified and fly more. Go big or go home, right?
