Had this idea for a while:
Body consists of 2 BT-80 cones
18mm mount
good bit of nose weight
good bit of base drag :)
Looks to SIM out pretty good

Very nice! I like curvy rockets. I think how it will fly is going to depend a lot on how the weight and drag is balanced between the 3 fins — could get squirrelly!

I think maybe you have a typo in the post. It says 13mm motor mount, but it must be 18mm.

Did you get the shoulder of the aft cone to fit inside the forward cone just by cutting a slit in it? That’s pretty nice.
 
agreed on the D21 - might be a "heads up" flight :)

You might also check out some of the new Quest Qjets. C12 or more likely the D16. I haven’t used them myself, but I’ve seen some D16 flights of Estes rockets that are kind of heavy or draggy for Estes motors, and they looked pretty good.

I actually cut the shoulder off both nose cones, cut a gap out of the wider of the 2, to fit inside the bottom cone by about 1/3 inch, then drilled 1/8 inch holes around the cone, going through both the new shoulder and the cone itself. I then roughed it all up and used epoxy (the holes making epoxy rivets) :)

Sounds like a good technique.

If the rocket really is 203g, then OR is much less sanguine about the possibility of getting the thing off the ground with a C6, which makes sense. That's pretty heavy for an 18mm BP motor.
 
ok - how did you do the ping pong balls??
and I added nose weight, so my sims will be even lower :)
