Finishing up an old build I wasn't going to finish because of a huge stability problem.
But I decided to finish it. It required 6 ounces of weight as far forward as I could get it.
I was going to attach metal to the nose cone, but with a Balsa Nose Cone (Custom made by Carl at Semroc for me) I decided that would be too much strain on it.
I used an 8" long BT-50 and packed it full of modeling clay from Cra-Z-Art from the local dollar store.
It was a 6oz package of Red, Yellow, Green and Blue. I put 5055 centering rings at the ends and going to glue that in 1" back from the Nose Cone. Makes for a hefty bird.
I'll post a pic when I get batteries for the camera.
RocSim gives it a 500' altitude on an E9. (I've yet to figure out how to get the E12 data into RocSim)
Many years ago a friend of mine left before dawn to bow hunt White Tail Deer before school. He never returned home that night. His parents figured he went out hunting after school as well. It was long after dark that they realized something must be wrong. Early the next morning his parents and police set out to try and locate him. They found his truck, and a few hours later they found him. They figure he fell coming down the tree and an arrow had went through his chest on his right side. The wound itself was not fetal, if he would have been found that same day. But due to the blood loss, he froze to death over night.
He also had a broken leg and arm from the fall. They estimated the fall between 18 and 20 feet.
This was long before cell phones (30+ years), which would have probably saved his life if he would have had one.
He was only 17 years old, and a Junior in High School with a lovely girl friend.
I started this project to honor my friend, and I am ashamed of myself for putting it off for so long.
It's in the shape of a broadhead arrow head and arrow shaft, thus the name for it. Large feather type fins at the back (3), and 4 smaller fins just below the custom Nose Cone for the razor sharp blades of the broad head. The Custom Nose Cone is in the shape of the tip of the broad head point.
As I said, I'll post pics when I can get some batteries for the camera.
