Would you visit and contribute to a forum section dedicated to staging?

In fact, since it seems like Staging, Airstarts, and Clusters are considdered "Advanced", it wouldn't be a bad thing to have a complete high power section on them. Sure would make searching the threads on How To and I Did It This Way a whole lot easier, especially since it would help concentrate build threads and electronic set up threads.

I've been trying to learn about them and I really have found anything that breaks down the electronics. How to configure, install, etc and I'm just interested in LPR black powder set ups. Maybe a dedicated area would help.

Since there seems to be some interest, let's see if we can get a feel for how much such a topic section might get used. I have added a poll to this thread. Go ahead and vote. And feel free to point this thread out to others so that they can vote as well. Poll closes in a month just so no one resurrects it years from now by voting.

Apparently, polls don’t appear in Tapatalk.

I agree, don't just make a new sub for staging, include clustering and airstarts as well. They all kind of go hand in hand.

I'm just getting into high power stuff, but I'm always interested in educating myself on the next stage (pun intended). I would definitely check it out.

Definitely needs to include Clustering and Airstarts. Though IMO, clustering is more about successful ignition than anything else, but it is still a complex profile.

My wife always says, ask for the Sun and hope for the Moon.
Hope the decision to add a section is thumbs up. If I WAS to break it down further, I think one sub section for black powder staging and one for electronic staging would be reasonable. Beyond that breaking it down would IMO dilute it too much.

Thanks for the support, folks!

Tom

I agree about adding Clustering and Airstarts.

And don't make it an HPR-only thing. Far more people do staging and clustering and to some extent air-starts in LPR/MPR than HPR. And/or learn how to do various methods/techniques with LPR/MPR before doing it in HPR.

I would contribute some of what I have learned working on five different university L-1 staging projects. It’s definately been challenging. The journey is very rewarding. The best advice this forum gave was Raven 3.

That could be due to the fact that many are reluctant to help you because of comments like that.

I figure it’ll pull less regular contributors at first but one could argue that simply adding it may be what it needs to get more regular contributors and more multi-stage flyers out there.

Agreed. The derth of published info, especially for HP, is probably one of the reasons that more people don't try it. On another point, there are several sub-forums here already that have less than 200 threads, so I think that, if it's not too big of a deal for the mods to create a sub forum, it'll get used as intended.....and appreciated by those of us who want/need the knowledge posted.

Full disclosure: I have a goal of building a HP 2 stager this rocketry season, probably with this tread as a guide: https://www.rocketryforum.com/threa...-stage-build-vindicator-jr.55463/#post-552250

So much has already been written, it would be great if all of it could be consolidated in one place. I have given the exact same advice over & over & over in so many different threads.

I’ve subscribed to many so moving them to said forum shouldn’t be too difficult.

This would be better in the Support forum, so I would have seen it sooner. And if you are talking of another forum, that's where to discuss it also.

But, about the poll - TT and branded app built on a base of TT, do not have polls. Apps are not fully functional entities of a forum, but an easy way to talk. Usually they don't have mod abilities (as I've heard of for years ).

Therefore, if you want to see the poll while on a phone or tablet, just use the mobile browser and type in the forum address, then use it with the same controls as you would use on laptop.

PS: Tim, I'll try to watch this thread and see what the outcome is. I'll need you to help me stay on top of things.

Specifically, on Tapatalk Pro, in any thread or poll one can grab the three dots in the top right corner and "Web View".

Something like that is what I ultimately did on the TRF app as well. I just jumped to Chrome and then could see the poll.
