Hi Team. Just wanted to reach out to everyone. I plan on camping at Country Charm with the regular bunch. If there's anyone wanting to camp and or hang out with us at the camp ground your all welcome to join the fun. September is always a fun launch usually the fields are getting bare by then so its rocket friendly and with 18 k most of the time its hard to say no too.

I'm planning on it, we just got a pop-up camper, just big enough for the two of us :)

I miss you guys... I should drive out. My wife wouldn't mind me taking a week off work for a weekend launch, right? LoL!

Unfortunately, I will not get your way until URRF. Please say hi to all the URRG guys and gals for me...

Joe look forward to next Urrf with you and the team. Greg good move on the pop up. Iam still tenting it. CZ maybe you should tell wify po you will teach her how to manage the prima cord on the night launch LOL. Whens that M 2400 coming.

Really looking forward to seeing everyone. Who's flying what? I'm going to fly my 6" X15. This will be its second flight. Hopefully this time better than the first. First time it was more a plane than a rocket:eek:. I plan to fly the BOLT Missile and HYPER 54 also. I know Rick will have a fleet, and I'm sure we can get Larry to fly something. See you on the field.

Mike

Well, for one, I'm planning on flying this Semroc MX Blue Bird Zero that I just reviewed for the Potter Rocketeer:

Yes, its held up on a straw squished in a vice. 13" long, but only .45" in diameter. I'll have to bring out my MX pad, since I don't think we can put a small enough rod in the normal A pads...

I'll have to dig in the mystery box of propellent and then find something with a whole that fits the mess. Its been so busy I haven't been able to sort or organize the rocket stuff.

Not sure if I'll be able to make it or not.

I was trying to get 3 rockets done.
The first will be ready
The second I just ruined the paint job
and the third I got behind on due to life events. It may be built but won't be painted/finished

Bolt, Pluto Slam, AGM, MPR. Each one wants to stretch its legs after a month..

You guy's are making me want to bring one to fly too,, lol..
Sandy and I sure can't wait for this weekend..
We really need a relaxing / laughing night of sitting around the fire..
See you all there..

Teddy

I am planning on coming out with my son Henry. I think we are going to try to stay at the campground Saturday night if there is room.

This launch will be one year from when I CATOed my first HP two stage rocket called Double Trouble. So I figured I will try it again this time on a K to a J long Burn. To keep with the theme of two stagers I am also going to try to get the first flight on my MC Nike Apache. The weather is looking good for some high flights!

Does anyone know the status of the crops? I sure hope those beans are gone they are just nasty...

Hi Andrew. I heard the corn is down so it sounds like we are back to a lunar type surface. I am sure there will be plenty of room at lucky charm and your sure to have a great time with your son and our group. I will let the camp ground know your planning on coming. We cant wait to see your flights its going to be a fun weekend.

Wow. The corn is gone, the beans are dead and drying, the carrots are drooping. what a great weekend, the Friday setup crew got to fly some rockets in clear blue sky and 0 wind, Saturday went well with 2 collage groups working hard on projects, at one point there were over 60 people in attendance. There was a camp fire Saturday night at Country Charm with about 12 of us staying over night. It sprinkled a little Saturday night but not enough to make a difference, Sunday was a little breezy and cooler with a few breaks in the clouds making it another good day of flying.

They say a bad day at the launch field is still better than a good day at work.... I tested that theory at Saturday's launch. I flew 6 LPR. Twice I had to replace the ignitor. One rocket had too long a delay - I'm still not certain if ejection occurred just before or just after hitting the dirt (no damage). Another my Jolly Logic chute release didn't, but I believe that was operator error (again no damage). One almost was lost - drifted behind the tree and lost sight of it. Fortunately someone else found it and brought it in (THANKS!). And last, one rocket went unstable and crashed causing significant damage. But the rocket had flown multiple times before without an issue. I did discover the nozzle had a partial blockage in it and I wonder if I got a vectored thrust from it or a reduced thrust? See picture. Still, a good day with friends!blockage.jpg

Sorry - not sure why the motor pix duplicated, and I can't figure out how to delete it

We had a lot of flyers over the weekend. As Greg pointed out, we got a head start on Friday after getting the field set up early in the day. I think I made three launches each day, though I'll have to think about which ones they were. I did fly my own upscaled Smokin'38:

I also flew my 54mm MAC Scorpion, though I didn't seem to get any photos. Same goes for my MX Blue Bird Zero, which was fun, even if it only went about 40'. I did get a shot of my Onondaga & Black Brant III:

Mike Crupe of MAC Performance launched a really sweet X-15:

What a great weekend! That was by far one of the best launches I have ever been to. Both Henry and I had such a great time both on and off the field. What else can I say great flying, great people and a whole lot of fun. The group out at URRG at absolutely first class and we can’t wait to get back out there next month.

We got in 7-1/2 flights including 2 A, 4 C, 1 H, 1 J as well as blowing up a K. Here are a couple of screen shots from the CATO on Saturday of my two stage:

Oh I just love the beans...

I really like how the flames just illuminate the aft end of the airframe in the second and third photos.

That was a great weekend. Andrew and Henry we really enjoyed your company and friendship. Was a really great turn out. We had several new members sign up and some great certs as well. October launch we are planning another group camp out as well cant wait.

I had a great weekend as well. the camp ground was laid back and the stories, yea the stories. lol.

Sorry I missed the Sept meet. Planning to see you all at the next one, here at the end of the month. Working on a few rockets to bring along.
I have a custom painted 4" Madcow Tomach that I would like to put up on a Loki M. Still need to run Rock Sim first on several relaods, but that should be a nice flight. As long as it does not become a dontation to the tree Gods:)
