So, I'm working on my sim of the 2018 reissue of the Estes Citation Patriot, and I've noticed a few things...

Yes... Yes... I know about the foul up on the fin decals. For those who don't, The Estes Logo is supposed to be located over the "P" on the left hand side (rocket pointed up, looking directly at the black fin edge on), and over the final "T" on the right hand side. As is, until the next run of the kit is made, this means that the decals cannot be placed as the original boxed or bagged versions were without the logo wrapping around the leading edge. FYI, upscalers should know that the Estes Logo has never been gold (it's always been white).

What I'm talking about is the facecard... That nosecone is not a PNC-60AH (072608). It's the 072665 nosecone (such as seen on the QCC Explorer or the Conquest) if I'm not mistaken. Visually, it's too long to be a PNC-60AH, and the tip is too pointy, but not as long or pointy as a PNC-60RL (072305). When rotating the image in OR, it's much more obvious than in the images below. BTW, the first one is from Estes's website (and matches the facecard), and the other is my sim.

Then there's the body tube length... It seems to me that the body tube on the facecard seems to be too long, either that, or the decals have been reduced in length. The white gap between the nosecone and the wrap with the eagle, and the gap between that and the blue in the "bunting" is too long. To my eyes it looks to be about 2 to 2.5 inches too long.

In looking at the instructions, I noticed that the launch lug and the engine hook also don't seem to be in line with each other. On my builds, I've aligned them with them both centered between the white fins. But the instructions seem to show the lugs (well, the upper lug at least) aligned on the left side of the black fin, but the engine hook looks to be aligned on the right side of the black fin.

Actually, the elongated nose cones infected a number of face cards and boxes in the past couple of years. This was due to a graphic designer who, I guess, assumed they had this fancy new forced-perspective way of indicating sppppeeeeeeeeeeedddddddddddddddddd! Or maybe ssssssssssssssssppppppppeeeeeeddd! They have since replaced the graphic designer as of, I think, the week after NARAM.
