Hello all,

I have been building rockets for about a year and slowly moving from low power to mid and now looking to get into F to H size motors. I have an AT 24mm reload case and really like it. I decided to get an couple of AT 29mm cases and can not find them anywhere. Is this a persistent problem, or just a seasonal thing, or is the planet running out of aluminum? Thanks.

It's been a persistent issue for a while now and not just 29mm but other calibers as well. I do know most 54mm and 75mm hardware is nearly/mostly caught up as well as some 98mm, but the smaller stuff is hit or miss. You might consider the LMS G's (USPS mailable) and DMS H's (HAZMAT) in the meantime.

I think a good way to go if you're eventually going to high power is to get a AT 29/40-120 case (or two) and fly the heck out of motors up through G. Skip the 29mm HPR cases and go straight to 38mm in AT. You can get a couple cases and some spacers and go all the way to level 2.

I have no idea of current availability of AT 38mm cases, but I have 29mm cases that I rarely use.

I'd also recommend the hobby line 29/40-120. It's the best entry into 29mm you can get!
Wildman has plenty of supply, I just helped restock his shelf a couple weeks ago.

Otherwise, hardware has been stupidly difficult to get at times. Your best bet is to browse the forum and pounce when you see a good deal. If there's a package deal like a 29 starter set that comes with a 180,360, closures, and spacers, grab it. That way you have everything you need to fly every load for a great price. If you get to a point where you NEED a case, post a Wanted thread here and usually you'll get several offers within a day or two.

The key here is what type of hardware are you looking for? Are you looking for 29mm Hobbyline HW or High Power 29mm Hardware. They are different.

If you are just starting in the upper levels of MPR, then the Hobbyline hardware is what you probably need. Just be aware that this will not work for H level motors.

Don't skip the 29MM RMS route, they are pretty much the best bang for the buck in the HP world. The 180/240 cases are a dream and are down right cheap (rocket monetary scale) to fly.

I am on the waiting list for a 29/40-120 case at a couple of vendors. I really like the options this case gives me for my fleet. They may actually get to fly by September......

180/240 cases are the most fun per dollar you can have with your clothes on.

You could always go with CTI, too. Easier than AT... just put the load into the case, screw on the rear closure, and you're done. As was mentioned earlier, don't overlook the Aerotech DMS motors either... at the 29mm size they're pretty cost effective compared to the 29mm RMS loads.

I just looked on AeroTech, Apogee, BuyRocketMotors, and Sirius. Nobody shows them in stock. Thanks for looking.

Being a Wildman Club member is great when buying this. It’s $69.99 for the muggles. That’s almost the cost of the years membership in the savings one item. Add a couple reloads for it...

Yes, you can't beat a G64 and G76 for under $12. Also the beautifully Smokey G53. Wildman membership is well worth it.
