Found Estes Maxi Honest John

Been after a Maxi Honest John for a few weeks now. Have seen them pop up on Ebay but they slip put of my fingers. Saw one at a launch I went to over the weekend and it sparked my interest more

I just launched my maxi brute honest John for the first time at our club launch, in so-cal, this past weekend as well. Flew great on an Aerotech E30

Was there a re-issue or are you looking for the one that's a few decades old?

I would love it if they reissued this. Paging jumpjet.

I have one I purchased from a friend about 7/8 years ago. He got it from an ebay purchase. Its still in the original box and taped up but the box shows that it wasn't treated gingerly. Not really looking to sell it but if the price was right, I could be convinced. I only really purchased it to help that friend out when he was a little down on his luck.

I’d be nice if they brought back the Maxi kits. Most of Estes’ rockets these days just look the same with different colors. Although at the price the Maxi V2 is going for these days, you can get a new LOC V2 4” for less

Heck, isn't the reissue at least a decade old by now? I know I have two of those down in the basement. I started one, but got sick of the vac u form fins.
Oh, wait, I was just waiting for 3D printing to be invented, yeah, that's it...

I had a reissue that I had been trying to sell local for years. Finally built it with spars reinforcing the fins. Shredded one fin on a G53 reload. I have two of the original releases, one reissue of the V-2, and an original V-2.
Flew an original Maxi Honest John back in the mid-70s with FSI F100s and AVI E24s (?).

I was looking for the one released I think in the 90s/2000s, not the original issue

One of my favorite kits of all time. The other being the maxi v2. For both of these kits I fill the fins with the expanding foam that you buy in the spray can. Makes them very stiff and durable. You can either glue the two halves together and then fill with foam, or fill each half, wait till it cures and sand the flat with a belt sander and then glue them together. If you glue together first you have to keep squeezing the fin as it cures because the foam will expand as it cures. Makes a very lightweight but strong fin.
