goals:
1- To eliminate the need for a ladder (and the wait for a ladder) at the away pads
2- To allow from-the-ground group monitoring of altimeter confidence beeps

functions:
1- Allow from-the-ground arming of Raven altimeters or any other electronics using magnetic on/off switching
2- Allow from-the-ground shared listening to altimeter arming beeps
3- Ensure these two functions do not interact in any undesirable way

use:
1- Use magnet end to arm Raven
2- Turn around and use microphone end to 'hear' inside a vent hole of your AV bay

Hey it ain't rocket science but it works! :headbang::smile:

I love over complicated, over engineered, widgets that don't appear to have a need until you develop the need stuff (tools). I want to make sure you know I love it and want one.

This is exactly ( I hope) what I need. Ordered 2 of the kits today. Thanks!

Nifty idea, but curious, why is the mic on the opposite end of the stick from the magnet? Wouldn't it be easier if both were on the same end (just rotate the stick rather than having to flip end-to-end)? Or was the magnet messing with the mic, or making too much noise if the magnet hit the rocket, etc? I'd think a mute button/power switch could handle the latter.

maybe put the speaker and mic on the back side of the stick from the magnet so you don't accidently stick the magnet in your ear hole, or run the magnet along the top of the yard stick glued along the side of the magnet

Hmmm, interesting. I already use a magnet on a stick to arm a couple of my rockets without having to use a ladder. Adding a microphone and amplifier makes sense. But I would put the magnet a bit further away from the speaker to avoid any issues. (I use the larger, much more powerful magnets that Adrian sells.) Another benefit of using the magnet on a stick is it's a lot easier to keep track of - you can tape it to the rocket so you don't forget it back at the flight line. I don't recall having an issue hearing the altimeter beeps but this seems like an easy way to make sure it isn't a problem.

Thanks for the post,

Tony
