I see it like this...

Rockets are cardboard, balsa, maybe some plastic, and a small a bit of metal. It doesn't matter if it's 6 months old, or 60 years old. The technology rarely gets fully put into the obsolescence pile. Besides, defects are usually easy to spot, and easy to repair.

On the other hand....RC is constantly evolving. Kits and parts have experienced huge changes over the years. What was top of the line a few years ago has already been left in the dust by new batteries, software, and stronger and lighter materials, then there's the whole issue of handling and usage to keep in mind. I'd trust a well stored rocket from the first year of Vern's enterprise a lot more than a shiny RC device that is more than a few weeks old.

Related comment... depending on what is being sold, there is a component of rocket pricing related to nostalgia, which can help emotionally in a deal. Saying that, I still have and love my Losi XXX-S Graphite chassis.

I have 2 Losi SCT nitro truck in excellent condition. No place to run them aside from an old abandoned parking which are few and far between. Also Traxxas nitro Slash and Slayer Pro. Lately no time for anything.

I still have a couple of nitro buggies. In general, seems like nitro offerings have dropped in price as interest has waned; with people more interested in easier-to-setup brushless vehicles.

I agree. I love everything about nitro. People are kazy. They don't want to turn a screwdriver. Nitro is more like a real vehicle and not an over priced toy
