Hi Guys,

Ive been looking forward to this weekend for months. Last year’s event was a great success. Does anyone know if Squirrel will be there? He was real busy last year pulling rockets out of trees. Boy can that guy climb!

All the best,
Bob

Al the featured flights link is the 6th link across the top of the opening page on the website, (urrf.us). The BFR form link is the letters BFR in red on the opening page for the featured flight link.
Good Luck

Last minute additions...

Don't ask me what motors. LoL
I'm stoked for URRF. See y'all in Potter!

gonna bring my 4 inch wildthang and ...gasp...my avitar, Sudden Black. Got some really fast K motors for them....
with the exception of Agent P, this year's theme is "sledgehammer motors"

got my propellant cast and just gotta face the grains to put the motor together. Hope to have the smoke done soon.
My son got me to change the propellant. He thought that the O5800 seemed a little whimpy. So, we tossed a couple of newtons out the window to get a O8200 together.
After all, I have been sledgehammering my Jumbo every time I take it to URRF. Last year was a O7600. Why should this year be different? What is the thrust limit to the fins on the Jumbo?
Please try not to blow up our towers.

Sandy and I are just stoked for this launch..
We always have such a fantastic time at the URRG launches,
but this one is special..
Some of the flights going up this weekend are to be remembered forever..
We just can't wait..
Thank you URRG for putting on such a smokin launch..

Teddy

Things are getting really close, I've been packing the camper. I just took delivery of it last weekend, so this is the maiden voyage. Fortunately, it isn't far.

Looks like Friday might have the best weather, depending on which guess you believe. Fly early and fly often!

Fields looking great got in today too lay it out. Smooth and Flat the fields looking for things going up its like calling my name. Sunset was great at the camp ground.Country Charm fire kickin back.

Really? Not cool.....you know why.....

Have you seen my Jumbo the last 2 URRF's?

Besides that's not my style.

Sorry, That came out wrong.
I men't more like over power the towers.
They have handled Q's without effort.

It was supposed to be more like "impressive".

Paul

OK everyone, This post is so you will know how we set up the parking and range for URRF 5.

The attached file explains all that but here I'm giving you a little bit of insight; The farmer did pile onions up in the first section of the "Back 40" just like last year, and they also did spread some onions on the rest of the field, but they did that using an old manure spreader so those onions were spread extremely sparsely. The whole field has been disked so the onions are literally nonexistent, But where the piles were placed there are 'patches' of what could be called "quick" onions, (think quick sand), that you don't want to get stuck in or walk through.

Read the file so you understand what we did and why. We are sure everyone will enjoy URRF 5 this year, see you all there.

Friday URRG5. Great weather and field conditions could not be better. 97 High power flights, both hydrolic towers got a real workout today. 77 Low power flights. not bad for opening day.

Saturday, Just enough rain last night to wet the surface and kept the dust down, clouds kept coming and going with just a teeny tiny spritz / more like a misting to keep us from getting too hot. After we closed the field for the day, lots of people went to the local watering hole ' Smugglers ' for food, fellowship and a few libations. You can lye about your rocket if you let me lye about mine. Wow, what a great bunch of Rockers!

Sunday, It's not too late to come. weather again will be just like today. clouds coming and going and a spritz to keep the dust down.

Thanks to URRG for hosting a fantastic launch! We had a great time and will definitely be returning next year. Here's some of the pictures my wife Rosemary took on the first day (more to follow) :

Nice you got pics of my L3 attempt (#20 and #21). Mind if I snag a copy? Might share on Facebook.

Sure, my wife got about 10 of your launch, I'm uploading them here :

Let me know when you've grabbed a copy of them so I can free that space up.

It looks like both the up and down part worked out so - congrats!

cheers - mark

I got a copy. Thanks. The motor actually failed (no cert). The down part is after things went bad. Rocket is in good shape, but lost the motor, the retainer, the adapter, a nomex blanket, 1 of the strattologgers, the drogue chute, and some minor damage to the top of the motor mount tube. It can fly again with some replacement parts, so no worries.

Really? Darnit. Second time's the charm.

cheers

I had a great time at URRF 5. I got three rockets on the pad...
1) Mac "Arc minus the As" went fantastic on an H550ST (3850)
2) Mac Black Fly that blew out the aft closure on an H128 (who knew that the fat o ring goes on top in a 29mm?!?!)
3) Wildman Demon 98 on a J1299N (quick pop to 4212)
More importantly, I enjoyed the company. Great times at the campground. Quick trip to the hospital rounded things out well, LoL! Glad everyone got out safely on Sunday when the rain started. .... Thanks for a great weekend, I'll be back every year I can be!

Day 1 pictures continued (10 per post limit) :

Yay, someone got a pic (#7) of my Tomach on a Loki K830 Spitfire. Is there anyway I can get a high res copy of this, or any other photos you might have?

Thanks.

Also, thank you very much to everyone that helped out, without volunteers like you none of this would happen.

This one? That's actually my Blackhawk 38 on a Loki H100. Sorry, I looked through and I don't see at Tomach pictures.

cheers - mark

Wow here is a pic of my Tomach taken last URRF on a Loki K830 Spit. If you sent me that pic saying that you took it of my Tomach I wouldn't know any different. I even launched from the red tower on A2 on the Friday.

I think I have your Camo Red Sox hat that got left in the car Sunday night on our jaunt into Penn Yann. If you want it back, drop me a PM and I'll mail it to you.

Thanks Al! I appreciate the speed getting me to the hospital so I'm not dead!
I noticed the hat after I woke up this morning. No sweat, I've got another one just like it, LoL! Give it away, burn it, whatever. And it's White Sox... None of that Red Sox garbage. LMAO

I want to thank Larry, Eric, Greg, Dutch, and all of URRG for hosting yet another successful URRF. The weather was challenging, but was much better than forecast. Particularly want to thank Larry and Eric for getting me off the field Sunday and for Squirrel getting my third stage out of a 100 foot tree. See everyone next year.

Great field, except for onions. Darn the skys, I don't fly when you can't see it....never high enough cloud cover to fly to 16k....
