Redstone IRBM Build Thread

Hello Everyone,

I recently completed a 3D print of the Redstone IRBM nose cone 4" diameter. I'm wanting to print the lower fins. Does anyone have a good set of prints they would be willing to share on the level of Mike Derffler CD collection. I have his Mercury-Redstone CD but the drawings section is really lacking on a complete drawing.

It looks like he referenced a set of Russian prints but did not complete it.

I have a drawing of the Redstone in AutoCAD format but it is very basic in detail.

Peter Alway's "Rockets of the World" has the dimensions of the fins, even the thicknesses from the rear view. Look under Redstone space launchers, pp. 204-215. Looks like the fins were all the same, from Juno to Mercury to Sparta/Wresat, so it looks like they didn't modify the fins on the surplus IRBMs they received when the Redstone IRBM was replaced by the Pershing.
If you could share your 3D nose cone and fin files with the rest of us that would be appreciated. I was going to build a 4" Jupiter C with plywood fins, but since I ordered my first 3D printer recently, I might replace the plywood with 3D printed ones.

If you can't find it at your library, the best price is on the NAR website. And standard .STL would be fine. I just ordered an entry level 3D printer a couple of days ago to play around with, hasn't arrived yet. Laters.

I've created two versions of the Nose Cone. 4.00" OD LOC airframe tubing. ST-20 (2.024 OD - Estes Mercury-Redstone) version.

The 4" version was created in 3 sections to fit my 3D printer. The 2" version is 1 piece.

E-mail me for the step/stl file. Having issue with loading this file type.
