I've had this Performance Hobbies 6" Der Red Max for quite some time, finally decided it's time to build it! Did a little mockup. I will be posting videos of the build on my YouTube channel, as well as updating here.

Time to make good on my TRF handle ;)

Just happened to browse the model rocketry fanatics group on Facebook before coming here and saw a very similar photo. I took another look and yep... same workbench! :) Enjoy the build!

and just four short years later I'm back to it!
I've got a K780R to go in this thing so I decided it's time to actually finish it and get it ready to fly this fall!

Here's a video doing all the fillets. I've been working at it all day today and made some solid progress so I'll have some more interesting updates here soon:

The nosecone being shaped properly was already awesome from the get-go. However, with the paint on it, it really comes to light that it's a huge DRM nosecone!
I can't wait to fly this thing. It's ringing all the upscale bells for sure ;)

It's really starting to look like a Der Red Max now!

I had a bit of an issue with SD car organization that cost me an entire video with lots of detail on how I cut the tube and adjusted things to fly head-end dual deploy. At any rate, here's an update on all of it!

Dare I say go with purple skulls on the black now?

Super bummer about the lost footage. Did you try any of the chinsy undelete programs? Might be able to some files back if you haven’t already used the card for something else.

Unfortunately, when I formatted it, I was in the desert preparing to film an event for work and had no choice but to write overtop if it all. I tried some brute force recovery tactics to no avail.

Oh well!

Looks amazing! The Der Ed Max I did wound up with too pointy of a nose cone. It would be comical if you built an upscale Estes launch pad for it. I'm thinking like some 3/4" EMT for the rod. 😂. Gosh, I'm half tempted to build a prop launch rod for mine now.
