Just noticed that there is a new version (1.1.4) of OpenRocket available as of 03-05.

Changelog mentions printing capability being added.

5.3.2011: Version 1.1.4 is released!

This release includes initial printing support, thanks to Doug Pedrick. Printing still has a few issues on some platforms. Various bugs have also been fixed.

I tried printing on both my Linux Lightweight Destro & my Win 7 Enterprise both crashed :( could be just me.....
Bug reports sent.

Not just you. Printing failed on my Win7 x64 box too. Also sent bug report.

Info Here and Here explain how to have some printing capabilities in older versions.

Yup Kerry's utility is a good work around solution for printing and the Google Earth flight maps can be really eye opening. Especially if you're flying on a smallish field. The only drawback with the utility is it works only with IE for the "drawing" functions which keeps to you tied to MS, which some folks object to.

A-HA!!!

It's an MS Exploder fubar....I wondered why both Firefox and Chrome would not display the geometry after the utility generated it...

Unfortunate for sure...but hopefully the OpenRocket team will be able to use the info being provided by this list to continue to attempt printing capabilities for the package.

He's actually got quite a list of to-do's associated with the project that he'd appreciate help with:

I have for about 24 hours. The changes are fantastic. I think the open source program will give rocksim a run for its money by version 1.5 to 2.

Printing works just fine my Fedora Core 11 box. That one has an older printer, in case that has anything to do with it. Have yet to try it with a newer printer.

The changes and improvements Sampo and team have made since I started playing with version 0.96 are amazing! I'm just a player these days - not a serious designer or flier anymore but I'm still following the progress of OR on SourceForge & TFR.

OR 2.0 will be real competition for RockSim.

Hi Jeff,
I remembered a conversion with Kerry Quinn regarding running his OR Print utility on Linux running Firefox and after some digging through TRF & my PMs I found his explanation of why non-IE browsers cannot render print files.....
Kerry wrote:
"... my program creates the print templates in *.VML format - which is NOT supported by Firefox. In fact, I think that VML is ONLY supported by Explorer (I'm not 100% sure of this though)."

I replied:
"... I did do some googleing and you are 100% correct, VML is an MS standard not supported by any other browser. Figures...."

So native OR printing is stable, IE is required to get templates for your OR designs.
