There is now one thread consolidating the mini and full sized options here: https://www.rocketryforum.com/showthread.php?142710-EggFinder-and-EggFinder-Mini-Sleds-and-All-Thread-Free-Mounts

These are a convenient way to mount the EggFinder without the need for all thread. These are made of the same temperature resistant PETG plastic that the EF-mini sleds were.

Unlike the EFmini sled, this sled will not fit in the 38 mm CTI/Wildman nose cone, but it will fit in the RW/Madcow cones.

If you would like a sled and/or mounting kit of this limited run send me a PM with which item(s) you would like along with your PayPal associated email address. Shipping is $4 CONUS for up to 4 kits. I will invoice you only when your order is ready to go. I have a few more ready this time at the start, but if these are gone before I get you in the queue I will give you an estimate on lead time, but again you will not be invoiced until your order is ready to go...I'm not taking anyone's money without product in hand.

4 options (Full Descriptions below):

38mm Nosecone/Bulkhead Mount Kit (fits most 38mm couplers and RW/Madcow filament wound nosecone): $23

Includes: Sled, Drill Guide, Bulkhead, Antenna spacers (4, 6 and 8 mm), (5) M4 set screws and (2) 4-40 set screws.

General Bulkhead Kit: $21

Another way to mount these would be on an existing removable bulkhead. To do this you can use any threaded (1/4-20 or smaller) anchor point that passes through the bulkhead.

Includes: Sled, Antenna spacers (4, 6 and 8 mm), Bulkhead Spacer and (2) 4-40 set screws.

Sled (with antenna spacers and 2 screws) only: $18

Bulkhead Spacer only: $4

38mm RW/Madcow Nosecone mount kit.

Includes: Sled, Drill Guide, Bulkhead, Antenna spacers (4, 6 and 8 mm), (5) M4 set screws and (2) 4-40 set screws.

You will need to add: Nosecone (plus coupler and bulkhead), EggFinder (with antenna), LiPo (4) zip ties (only 3 pictured), Eyebolt and hardware (1/4-20 or M6 recommended), 4-40 screws for mounting Eggfinder to sled (not pictured).

To install:

Decide which antenna spacer is best, and modify by sanding if necessary. 8mm Spacer is designed for the stock wire antenna. The spacer mounts by fitting into the slot on the top of the sled and with a single 4-40 screw from behind.

The EggFinder directions call for the stock wire antenna to extend 80mm above the board. In my RW cone there is 83 mm of space above the board with the sled installed in the recommended way, so the stock wire should be accommodated. However, I can't speak to variability between RW/Madcow cones. The maximum antenna base size that can be accommodated is 16mm diameter.

Attach LiPo with zip ties (vertical zip tie first), and snip excess.

Attach the Eggfinder with your chosen hardware, feed the power connector through the pass through at the bottom of the sled, and secure the antenna with a zip tie.

Attach the sled to the bulkhead with your chosen hardware, and the nut capture in the base of the sled as shown. It is optional, but strongly recommended, to include the fiberglass bulkhead supplied with the nosecone in the stack. Lastly, slide the sled into the pre-drilled nosecone and secure with (3) M4 set screws being careful to recess them sufficiently that they do not interfere with deployment.

Includes: Sled, Antenna spacers (4, 6 and 8 mm), Bulkhead Spacer and (2) 4-40 set screws.

You will need to add: Bulkhead with associated hardware (14-20 or M6 recommended), EggFinder (with antenna), LiPo, (4) zip ties, 4-40 screws for mounting Eggfinder to sled.

Need an existing (removable) bulkhead containing an installed anchor (M6-eyebolt shown). Without removing the hardware that attaches the anchor point slide the spacer over the existing nut (recess in spacer is 15 mm wide and 10mm deep), and screw slide onto threaded part using the nut capture in the base of the sled. This secures the sled without it becoming a load bearing part of the anchor attachment. This will fit almost any 54mm or larger nosecone.

These are now available on eBay, but you can still order here and save a few $.

I'll also have some of these with me at Airfest if you want to check them out.

Bumping this one too as I wasn't clear about the different options available between the Mini EF sleds and the full sized EF sleds.

Unfortunately, the wide varieties of antenna people use for the full sized makes designing a one size fits all shock cord mount difficult.

These above sets will also be available at Airfest. Find me, Chris Bender, among the throng if you are interested or just want to talk rockets.

Hi Cris,
Interested in these, not sure which Madcow/RW Nose cones these fit.
fw Thin wall or standard thin wall.
Also, any plans for the new Missile works T3 tracker?
Thanks.

These were designed around the 5:1 RW/Madcow VK filament wound NCs. While I suspect you would be good (pending antenna choice) in any of the 38 cones with the mini system, the Fullsized system is more space hungry, and will probably not fit most profiles shorter than 5:1. Which cone profile are you specifically interest in?

As for the MWT3; I have already ordered a set, and some 900 mAh 1S Lipos to design around. So yeah, going to try to make a sled compatible with the same bulkheads, drill guides, and spacers. I'm hoping to get the sled short and narrow enough to fit most nosecone profiles.

Thanks Cris,
I am looking at the Fiberglass 1.6" (38mm) Thin-Wall rather than the FW due to the extra weight.
Now what to do eggfinder mini or MWT3. I will have to look at the antenna lengths.
At my club (Southern Arizona Rocketry Association - SARA) there are several people watching this.
I may just be the first to do it, maybe not!
I will tell all to check it out.
Thanks again!

With the EF mini, sled and bulkhead you need 6 3/4" of internal nosecone+shoulder length. With the full sized Eggfinder the limiting factor is more likely to be the diameter of the sled making contact with the inside of the NC, where as the antenna is most likely the length limiting factor.

When you, or anyone else from SARA, are ready to give these a shot I'll be here. I appreciate any word of mouth. To sum up the multiple options I have made a consolidated thread: https://www.rocketryforum.com/showthread.php?142710-EggFinder-and-EggFinder-Mini-Sleds-and-All-Thread-Free-Mounts

So there is a new wrinkle on the block, with Featherweights' new GPS tracker.
Any plans in the future, for a sled for that either nose cone or coupler?

As I am not a Registered Vendor, I can neither confirm, nor deny.
