Does anyone have plans for a mid to high power parallel staging rocket to share? I've been looking for a kit that is still in production but haven't had much success. Thanks! :)

Jeff,
I am working on a 24mm motor sustainer with 18mm motor port and starboard SRBs based on the Ares system. I have up scaled this from a smaller rocket that I saw in Apogee news letter.

I am using dowels and launch lugs to hold the top of the SRBs to the sustainer and some really strong magnets to hole the bottom of the SRBs to the sustainer. I have a build thread coming.

But for MPR or HPR holding the SRBs to the sustainer securely and reliably separating them can be done. I would use a staging timer and some black powder in some set up to separate the SRBs.

I guess my big question is what is going to happen if not all three motors light?

On my rocket I am interested to see what happens if say one of the SRBs does not light as it is way further from the center line of the rocket. Will its flight be a long arc, go Cruse Missile, or will it pinwheel?

Here's a starting point. The contributors could still have the plans, couldn't hurt to ask about sharing 'em. One of them is in the members listing here at TRF, PM him.

bradycros,
Thanks for the reply and link to the review. I'd previously read it and been in contact with Roger of ARC. Unfortunately, ARC is currently awaiting parts from their vendor before they can produce more kits to sell on eBay.

We do plan to have more available in the near future, waiting for parts from vendor. Thanks again. Roger (for ARC).

I've also been in contact with Carl of DFR Technologies. Their Delta IV parallel staging kits will be available from jonrocket is a couple of weeks. Carl said that he would post a message on The Rocketry Forum when the kits are available.

Scott,
Thanks for the reply. I'm looking forward to studying your build thread. Have a great week.

Delta IV rockets has a whole line, I'd go for the 24mm heavy version, I have one, should i ever get around to building mine.
