In the Kung Fu Panda movies, Master Oogway teaches Master Shifu and Po the value of Inner Peace. He teaches them that different masters achieve it through different paths. Oogway himself, for instance, meditated in a cave alone for 30 years.

I have come to see that my path to inner peace lies in building a 2x upscale of my Vulcan glider.

The new design has 88" wingspan and 3" motor mount. The tape outline and a 4" nose cone give a sense of dimensions. Another way of looking at it is in comparison to the "small" Vulcan that mostly flies on I motors.

I'd sure love to see that fly....
Super cool...

You are already an enlightened master, Ari. May the peace be with you. Just the ghost outline makes my heart happy....

Six large boxes showed up on my doorstep.

I have visions of Inner Peace being towed out to the launch site in the manner the Space Shuttles were towed to their final display locations.

After much delay, I'm working on Inner Peace again. Tonight I'm putting .5"x.5" trailing edges on wing panels. One of the challenges on this build is the sheer size of its parts. Each of the six subpanels can just fit on my bench, but not any combination of them. I'm leaving them in a stack on the floor while Gorilla Glue is setting overnight.

It looks like my daughter is staying with her mother the weekend of LDRS. Co-parenting is hard :=( Also, progress on Inner Peace is slow. I am taking in how drama in real life affects my ability to achieve inner peace.

The progress, such as it is, is this: I've sanded trailing edges to shape. I glued up 5"x48" 3/32 balsa blanks and glued them to the outboard wing panels to serve as ribs. I wanted to use 1/16 plywood, but the longest pieces I have are 30" long. I decided that I prefer softer but seamless material. The purpose of these ribs is to present a harder surface on the interface between inboard and outboard wing panels.

More progress. Both outboard panels now have balsa reinforcements on root and tip ends, and their shape matches the airfoil.

There have been some changes in my life, and more are coming. I am moving out of state, and I don't expect to have space for this project in the next 5 years. I also cannot see storing the cores for this long.

I am offering these cores to anyone who wants to build them. You need to pick them up in California, but I may be able to deliver them to a larger launch in NV or OR.

PM if interested.

Ari.

Dang it Ari- missed you at LDRS and now you're moving??? Going to Vegas any time next year? Absolutely love flying with those guys out there.

Whew. I thought this thread was going to be about when you shake your rocket, and hear something rolling around inside.

Just kidding. That is one gorgeous machine! Love the flames.

Very nice rocket, the old one that is, I can't wait to see the new one.

I also think your onto something. I think we as men (forgive me ladies, but I am assuming most here are men) need an adventure. By adventure I don't necessarily meaning climbing Everest, but it could be, I mean something that holds our focus.

Perhaps it's building a rocket, or running a small business, focusing on a target at the range.

Real men need an adventure.

So Men, check this book out, you won't regret it......."Wild at Heart" by John Eldredge..........it describes the true path to inner peace.

Hope I didn't hijack the thread but couldn't resist the plug, you gave the perfect setup.

Build that sweet rocket and please video the flight for the rest of us.

Project aborted, but maybe Ari can use your advice. He's really one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet and his daughter is a little heartbreaker. He'll have his 'adventures' all right!

David, if you want the cores, I can arrange to deliver them to ROC.

Ari-what a buddy! I'd prefer they go to someone with a less dense build pile and the chops to fly the finished product. When are you leaving? Stay in touch, brother, and hit my email or pm once in a while. (Dang, I know I'm gonna regret this!-

Land long and prosper, old friend!

Just my luck. I am going to be in CA Monday-Wednesday AM, with a way to ship those parts back to Texas (large empty crate returning back to where I work).

The only problem is that I will be in and near San Diego, at the wrong end of CA from Ari...... :)

Tom, where in TX are you? If you stay till Saturday, I can have Mike Gentile bring them to ROC. I know you'd make good use of them.

I live in Fort Worth: headed to San Diego early AM on Monday, but have to be back at work Wed afternoon..leaving San Diego early Wed. Such is life.

Wow. So close yet so far. Is this a one-off trip, or is this something that happens? Of all people I know, you might get the most mileage out of these cores.

Ari.

One-off trip. I never know where they will send me next.

I know that packing and shipping would be a pain. However, if you have any interest in doing that I would be more than willing to discuss what it would cost.

Ari- here's a thought- I could store them for you. Of course, I'd leave a note in my will about them. I'm so old I don't guy green bananas any more...
